I have a 13'7"x40" rivited jon boat. It has a mod transom with three knees. It has run a 25hp 2 stoke merc with no problems. I have been looking at the Copperhead 10 and 12 hp, but not sure what to put. I have no problems modding out an engine with head, cam, piston, carb, exhaust, ect... I'm a millwright by trade with some machinist ability. I want enough power to run in an acid water pond behind a sugar mill. It's basicly a nasty, deep swamp with no bottom and full of muddy grass and water lillies. The water also stays warm all year long due to the mill running in the winter months. Thanks in advance, Josh. |

Go the 18hp copperhead. It doesnt weigh much more than the 12hp and probably can find mods easier. Heard they added a neutral option to the 18hp as well. Trust me you will wished you had it if you dont. |

After looking at the Copperhead site, the 18 is out of my budget... my wife and two children say NO!!! It's ok though, I found a website, here on the forum, that sells parts to the kart guys. It also has a bunch of tech tips on free horsepower gains. So between the tighter budget and the website I may go with the 12. I have a long tail frame but cant find parts for it so that idea is scrapped. Thanks for the ideas though guys, Josh. |
