I was looking to put a 27 or 36 hp prodrive on the back of my 1448 grizzly tracker. Would this set up work or is the boat to short? I need a short boat were i hunt and was hopeing to use what i have without buying another boat. It is a mod v welded boat. |

I run a 1448 tall transom with a 23 mudbuddy HD it works, definetly not ideal it has plenty of free board and i get no water over the back. It is a little back heavy though. After running this year im going bigger for better performance. The 27 would probably be fine if you got a tall transom but a 35 might be a little much on a small boat like that. A 1448 does not carry a hunting load great speeds drop off quick when weight is added. My boat is a mod-v so that my big problem don't get a mod-v they really suck with a mm. |

My boat is for a short shaft motor so im thinking it would get swamped with a mud motor |

just dont slow down fast. ive seen 16' with short transom and 23 gtr the guy had flaps on the back to keep water comming over the transom. Long tails are lighter might be a better option if you really want to keep the boat but I would send it down the road, im going with a 17' |

I have a 1448 grizzly with a 27 hp. I cut the transom down for short motor. By myself 25 mph 2 people hunt load around 15 mph. 3 people 9 mph. With three people the 27 will push the boat in pond with three inches of water. Tide caught me durning teal season. I have battery and fuel in the front. And slow down slow |
