Anybody running anything close to this setup, and the price is right too. Talked to Mike today and I am torn between the 1648 and the 1448 hull but think the 1648 would work better with running 3 guys and a dog. |

23 is strong but you'll be happier with a 35 with loads like that. |

You can hunt 3 guys out of a 1648 but its TIGHT!! X3, get the 35...the 23 will do fine with 1 or 2 small people, but 3 and a hunting load and it will be SLOWWWW. Trust me I know, I went down that exact route first. |

Spend the money get the 35. the 23 will push it but you will want more power. |

Based on my experience I would go for the 35 from the beginning. You will spend much more trying to trick out the 23. Not worth it. Go with the 1648 with the 35 HP motor. Make sure they worked out the trim and clutch issues. Dixie had some growing pains I hope it works out for you. Consider the 25 GTR. A forum member has that setup and got amazing results. Best of luck |

How would the 25 gtr do compared to the 35 Dixie as far as speed goes? Ive decided on the 1648 hull. I really like the setup and Mike has been great with getting me all the info I have asked for. So now I just need to decide on the motor. I run a few rivers where the current can be strong so I think the 35 would be the better choice. |

jb is running the 1648 with the gtr 25 and hes pushing 28mph im pretty sure. I think you'll be happy with either or. The 25 is efi which is a nice feature. Read nothing but great things about the gtr25 and I havent seen anything bad about the NEW dixie mud motors...but hey dont knock it till you try it! If I was running straight mud and stumps id probably go with something that everyone on this website promotes from good experiences...gtr..prodrive..etc.. I just wanted a motor for veggies maybe the casual shallow water spot and with that being said I think ill be more then happy with a dixie 35. If it doesnt work out I know there are guys on here that would be more than happy to get me another motor. Its going to be a learning experience for sure but im confident mike will stand behind his products. |

The 25 gtr is a really nice motor for the 16-48 hull. It was toting me and my buddy 26-27 while turkey hunting Sunday. I had a 23 Briggs a few years ago and the 25 is much stronger. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 |

i would rather run a plywood boat with a broken trolling motor than buy/use anything from dixie! |

Yea man have fun in your plywood boat. It all boils down to $$$. If you got the money then hell yea go with the big boys and have a motor with reverse but for us Po Boys in the south Mike and Dixie Mud Motor have recently upgraded everything on there motors and at a unbelievable price. I would put the quality of my new 23hp Dixie to the big boys any day. |

Lol come on man read my post alil better. I said "Quality" nothing bout speed. You talking bout a modded 35hp mudbuddy vs a 23hp Dixie. That's like a bicycle vs a corvette. I was just trying to put out there that Dixie had a bad rep for breaking but with the new owner and the upgrades he's made it's well worth the $. |

Anyone that thinks a Dixie is in the same league as the 'big boys' clearly has never owned a big boy brand life tested motor. Its like the kid in the modded civic drag racing a mercedes. Both are fast, but one has a very short life I own I Dixie, saving for a big boy |
