Got my 1st mudboat
Been wanting one for a few years. Bought one from a guy I found online. 1448 weldbuilt flatbottom with a 23 gator tail. Don't know much about em but it's got a cam, mikuni carb and bps exhaust. Haven't got to take it out yet but it sounds like a Harley

Re: Got my 1st mudboat
The guy put some pods on it and said it slowed the boat down some, so he cut them off and left enough to weld em back on if whoever got the boat wanted then on. I got the pods and the factory parts carb, cam and exhaust.
And also to the stupid ass Texan, let me get the last word here and shut you up....your right not much gets by us bama boys, check out the football team for reference. AND this is a boat and MOTOR review section.
Thank everybody for the props on my new rig, gonna get it in the water bright and early for last weekend of Canada geese til november.

Re: Got my 1st mudboat
MM Brand: gator tail Horsepower: 23 Boat Brand: weld built Boat Size: 1448 Boat Layout: open floor
Speeds | Shallow Water: 22 Speeds | Deep Water:21 Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: 2 men (200 pounds each) guns and gear, half dozen geese floaters, 6 gallons gas and battery located in the rear by motor. Conditions Tested In: light ripple on main river, smooth as glass backwater
Comments: I thought it would be faster, dont really know how to trim it where its supposed to run but i learned trim way down in the mud and running the river i trimmed it up all the way then just bumped it down a couple notches and it seemed the fastest that way. Takes a minit to get on plane. And the exhaust is way too loud, i put ear plugs in. Doest turn good running wide open but fine if you throttle down. Overall im happy with it. Just gonna take some experience and tuning on them speeds.

Re: Got my 1st mudboat
HOLY CHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's much better!!
Get a GPS in your hand and run it at all trim levels. I would think it would be running a little faster than that. Measure your prop too. Don't know what size prop comes on the 23 (maybe 11x10)
As for the exhaust you might can call BPS and get a silencer for it. It should have came with one when the original buyer bought it. Or sell it and buy a stocker.

Re: Got my 1st mudboat
oh yeah i also crawled under the boat when i got home, cuz when i bought it i just peeked under but its in pretty rough shape, 4 or 5 welded up spots and 2 patch pieces welded on it, one spot they welded a bead all the way down like 3 feet on one of the ribs. Iv seen a little talk about slick bottom boats or whatever, idk what that is. Maybe my speed wont be as good cuz of the shape of the bottom of the boat. Not sure how critical that is or if it matters.

Re: Got my 1st mudboat
Thats very critical and I did help, gave you an example to go by and you did. Now you'll get feed back. Jack.

Re: Got my 1st mudboat
There you go man. That was a great review. The bottom of that hull will greatly affect your performance. A true mud hull is a slick bottom, meaning that there are no ribs and it is built completely smooth. I know its not what you wanna hear, but to get optimal performance, you need a new hull.
