Phowler 2060 with PD CXX36 Gen 3 Duals and Blind
We did our first new dual rig last month with the new CXX Pro-Drive Duals and it is a beast.
Boat: Phowler Extreme 2060 with full hard blind, remote steering, extra boxes, fold down beds, heaters, propane etc.
Motors: New CXX36 Duals, Stock with carbs.
Performance:
Deep water
One Man (200) - 32 mph Two Men (200 and 390) 30 mph Three Men (200, 390 and 380) 29 mph Four Men (200, 390, 380 and 180) 28.2 mph Five Men (200, 390, 380, 180 and 265) 27.5 mph
With four men and all the hunting gear the rig still averages 27.5 mph in deep water wind and current.
I shallow water on a straight run with three men it hit 31.5 mph.
Shallow water performances: In the mud and weeds this set-up is amazing, even with the four man load it will jump on step almost at once, regardless of mud, weeds, etc. The FPR reverse on just one motor will pull it back out of just 6" off water over hard bottom and through the weeds and soft mud in just a inch or two. The new Gen 3 boxes just dig in the soft stuff, they will idle the rig right up to dry ground or into the thick cattails to bury the boat.
The owners of this rig are not little fellas and just can't believe this rig (which load with blind, gear and 4 men is tipping the scale at 2700-3000 lbs) just does not slow down and runs at 4300-4400 RPM max speed regardless of load.
I love my 2066 dual set-up with 2011 PDXX36s, but after running this rig with all the improvements to the motors, reverse speed, trim, clutch and the power of the new GEN 3 lower units, I might just have to build a new demonstrator to use late season!!!!!

Sorry we did not get pictures of this rig before it was picked up, hopefully the owners out of Carrol Iowa will post up some pictures of the rig in action.

Fold down beds????
Not trying to be a smartass....but what kind of areas do guys that these boats are built for run in?? All the places in my area and where I hunt out of state, a heavy big boat like that would get stuck in a min...and would not be able to be pushed out? Is it mainly grass and weeds?
You guys up north sure do carry a lot more shit than folks down here...lol

Re: Phowler 2060 with PD CXX36 Gen 3 Duals and Blind
You would be amazed at how little water that big Phowler boat will run in, it only drafts about 6" fully loaded. Up here there are no permanent blinds or leases, it is all public, first come first serve, in alot of areas you have to be on the water at midnight to get the prime spots, so guys camp out in these big rigs. We do not have that soft pudding type mud you guys have down south, it is silt and hard bottom in the stumps, grass and cattails. I also gets pretty cold up here, it is not unusual to break 3-4" of ice some mornings and on the best days it never gets about freezing, those are the flight days.
You are right, you run one of these big rigs out of the water on plane and you need two boats and a small army to put them back in the water. We explain to our customers that idling into areas you don't know is the way to go, once you are sure of the conditions and that there is enough soft bottom and or water to get through or back out, then hammer down, but don't run in blind, it will bite you in the azz quick.
