Before we start...... We hung this motor just to check the recessed transom with the reverse plate for function. I'm building two now for gtr's one 17' and one 18'6". I was worried we would get negative performance due to length but did extremely well. Specs Hull- 16' overall 48" bottom 18" sides 65" beam 4' front deck 18" huntdeck/ recessed transom Motor- bone stock gtr w/ 0 hours Speeds- Just me 230 lbs. 4 gallons gas, battery and safety gear 31-32 consistent 4150-4200 rpm's 4 of us 230-250 each 26 consistent 3900-4000 rpm's |

Believe me buzz I'm with you. We piled in more as a joke.... Like I said it was just put on there to make sure I didn't have to make adjustments to the recess. Honestly the reason it did so well is the crimps on the xlr8 make the hull lift. The xlr8 was originally designed for packing a load with smaller motors but seems to work well with the big ones too. |

Smart with the crimps !! I agree some of these boats need some lift with loads for deep water |

Incredible speeds for a stock unit. The 18' hull should be the winner! |
