I currently am running this boat with a 27 hp prodrive. Im thinking of trading up to the 36 hp prodrive. the 27 is great when it is just me I am running speeds in the low 20's. But when I add another person plus gear, guns, etc it seems that it is too much for the 27 because I wont even get a plain. My question is does anyone think that the 36 prodrive will be too heavy or too much for this boat? I am needing to get more speed and push power when others need a ride to the blind.

Should be fine. Or pull the 27 engine off and drop that kawasaki engine on that frame. There's a thread or two floating around with a large amount of info.

You'd really benefit from a 18' mudboat too

I run a 36 on a 16x48 alweld, works fine but would not suggest a short transom

You could get the heads and carb done on that 27 Kohler. That would probably give you the extra power you need. Lakotaracing and a few other places have performance parts.

Ill check out some of the Kawasaki motors. I just really think I need a bigger motor , im not worried really about back wash this is a tall transom boat. Just cant let off the throttle off a plain so I wont get back wash. I usually ease off of the throttle anyway. What kind of performance parts were you guys talking about??
