Post 1748 Prodigy w/27 MB Kawa
MM Brand: MB HD Sport with Kawasaki engine
Horsepower: 27 HP
Boat Brand: Prodigy
Boat Size: 17x48
Boat Layout: Front deck with hatch, extended open underneath, Gunbox, and half box for driver. Rear 10" catwalk, and small console with braced handle in front of driver box. All ledges and boxes lighted, hydroturf, Huntdeck.

Speeds | Shallow Water: No speed acquired
Speeds | Deep Water: 24 steady, bumped higher at times
Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: 300 lbs (driver, gas, ice chest, tools)
Conditions Tested In: Calm

Comments: Went and ran a couple hours yesterday with North LA Hunter (he ran his boat). Ran well, hopped up on plane in deep water easily. Handled shallows without hiccup, other than the 20 ft of dry ground i came up 6ft short on :D Reckon I need to go on and get the gator glide and put it on...
Engine has heads decked .036 and valves re-cut with some port/polish, and stock exhaust is gutted.
I'm pleased with the layout of the boat, and how it rides. Slid a little bit turning to the light side of the boat, but my side it cut a turn real well (except for once coming off shallow into a deep water turn). I guess that's just a factor of so little weight in the boat. Will find out in a month when it's time to work on the blinds.
The handle is solid, and something I love having in a boat most of the time, and it's removable, so it won't be in the way while hunting out of the boat.
The 48" bottom rides a little low compared to the 54" i'm used to, but with more power it wouldn't be an issue. Planning to upgrade the engine a bit more, but if that doesn't happen, I'm completely happy with how she runs as is. Doing it over again isn't desired. I'll run her til the wheels fall off.

Pictures coming....

It's not much light than the 35 hyper sport. It's been a while since i looked, and they haven't been on the mb site in a while. I think it was maybe 20-25 lbs lighter than the 35. The engine is only 3 lbs lighter dry weight. Not sure what was different to add that 20+ lbs, and my memory has never been exactly great. lol

Update: Tried some things with props (added cup to stock 11x10, dropped rpms and speed drastically; worn to 11.5" BigBlade, does well), holding 24 either way. Hole shot better with the worn BB, speed same. In the mud, the 11x10 with the cup ground back out seems to be better. Shallow speeds haven't been aquired yet.

Three people was holding 20. Two, back to 23. Haven't tried the 11x10 with more load than just me. Turning 4200 (same empty or with three people) with the BB, 4350 with the 11x10 solo.

Thanks. For those passing the koolaid around, this Prodigy will be getting a gtr after this season ends. Should make yall happy. Got a decent deal on a frame and engine that needs a little work. Going to give it the parts it needs and hopefully satisfy my need for power. The Kawa will stay in the sphere of influence, but will belong to my brother from here on out. Will update this thread once changes made.
