Post Lowrance buy at your own risk !!
Stay away from lowrance products they are getting built cheap . I bought a new lowrance hds 7 gen 2 touch sometime in November and I've been through 4 units ( one original from the place I bought it and 3 replacement units ) !!!!! I haven't had a full weekend of use ! I've checked out my end on the boat and I am gettn power even tried same units on diff boats !! First unit works fine for 2 fishing trips then craps out second unit craps out within first hour of trip and blinks when trying to power on third unit craps out and just flashes white then nothing !! Waitin on 4th unit to come in now !!! I've used multiple lowrance products and never had this many problems !! Must b because it's made in Mexico !!!!

Lowrance is usually pretty good about fixing stuff. I run Humminbirds but we use my partners tournament boat some times and he's running 3 HDS12s and has never had any trouble out of them. But don't get me started on that evinrude g2...

I had heard they were getting better with their service but in my opinion they equipment is sub par at best. Everyone I know that buys from them ends up replacing it after a couple years because of continued problems.

Been running lowrance products exclusively since the 90's and have never had an issue.

Hope you get your problems straightened out. But they sound like a jam up company to be sending a fourth unit!! If it was my company Ida told you to kick rocks after unit #2 got fried.

Sounds like you got something going on with the electrical you're plugging it into. After the first one, ok, Lowrance to blame. After the second, ok, maybe still their fault but I'm gonna start wondering very seriously. After the third, stop thinking it's the unit and start figuring out why your boat keeps frying them. Because there's no way Lowrance makes something THAT crappy, considering all the people that use that particular unit and don't replace them every other day.

Get a new cable and hook it up straight to the battery and not use your existing one. Then you can rule that out. I find it hard to believe also.

Let me start with are HDS9 gen2. We just pulled are unit out last week , it was flashing on and off and the sonar wasn't working right either. We had a furuno in before that we , ran ALL new wires , along with new radio and speakers so we decide , lets play it safe. This HDS was bought at West Marine , we took it back and they hooked it up at the store , and did the same thing. They said they haven't had many returns on the unit , but they did upgrade us to the new Gen3. Going to drop the boat in the water tomorrow and test out the new unit, Heading to the florida keys to fish offshore and I sure hope this new unit is working right. We also bought a Mark4 for are bayboat that unit has been replaced twice. Anymore problems with Lowrance and looks like hummingbird might find a place on the boats.

Anybody tried any of the Garmin units? I just bought the lowrance 7 HDI. I'm hoping you are just having poor luck because I got mine for a good price and would like to hang onto it.

Garmin and Lowrance come out of the same facility from what I understood.

Im willing to bet most of the electronics in your house, appliances, and vehicles are made in Mexico.

them units should be popping fuses and not units. always install the inline fuse that comes with the units and not rely on the breakers that come on the new switch panals. my friend had a simular issue and the fuse was 10amp and had it hooked up to a 20amp circuit breaker on switch panal.

I'm no boat mechanic but everything I install has a fuse I run everything to a fuse panel . And it's not blowing any fuses.

I had two lowrances in my bay boat,,,One crapped out and replaced it with an HDS7.

The HDS7 Had a few glitches but nothing too bad. They were fixed with the Gen2 units..

Installed a Garmin 740S Touchscreen in my new boat and can honestly say, while the Garmin was a nice unit, their maps are way behind that of the Lowrance (Platinum plus maps). I will go back with a lowrance cause of this.
