Post Mangrove Mud Motor?
My dad wants to get a 9hp mangrove mm after a owning a shitty Dixie. I say we get a 12 hp copperhead. We exclusively hunt in a 10hp area. Anyone own a mangrove mm? Going on a 1448

Mangrove unlike many others tests the hell out of every model before it's released. Sure is easy to sit around and type when you have no idea what your talking about. But hey that's what most on this site does any way. If you wanted to help OP out you should have politely told him to go some where else for advise.

He's not the same guy. He was a dealer for Dixie and other small company mud motors

if you've ever bailed out a boat at 4 AM because an over powered A-hole swamped you in the middle of the lake so he could make it to his spot you would be just like me!! promise. there is a reason for restrictions..... SAFETY!!!

10 HP lake and guys stand at the ramp bragging about 15-20 HP boats.... there was a guys with 18Ft boat that HAD to have atleast a 25 on there last opening day. Some of them dont even bother to hide it either. so guys like me in a one man sneak boat with my little 7HP are in serious risk of injury in some cases. the channel is maybe 100 yards wide, i can't take the wake from these boats flying thru at high speeds.... rules are rules for a reason. If not wanting to die a cold, wet, death and 4 am makes me a bitch then so be it!! I can take that. I'll turn in every punk ass i see that wants to break the law...

In all seriousness with two guys in any boat with 10 horsepower is it going to get up and go?

I just can't imagine how much it must suck to have to run two guys, dog and gear in a little itty bitty Jon boat blazing at 8 mph. Those restrictions in Leon County suck. All it does is cram frat guys and high school kids 4 deep in boats rated for 2 causing more potential danger. Open them all up, leave Carr or something like that as is for the "primitive hunting experience."

Used to run 3 guys and dog In a 1436 with a 6.5 on it, it would haul ass across the swamp at 7-8 with a tail wind. You also get out of the boat to pee

The smallest we ever ran was a 1432 with a 16 hp godevil crawfish model. Had to make two trips if there was more than two hunters and a dog.
Put that same motor on a 1640 mod v Lowe and that was a sweet rig. I wish I had had it only the motor belonged to a friend and the boat was mine.

How much is enough, just a little bit more. I think we are all guilty
Of that at some Point or another. Courtesy and common sense make the difference. If you got it ya got it. If you don't then your the same ole ass you've always been.

I started with a 7 HP Mangrove Mud Motor and loved it. Moved up to a 14 HP with electric start and like it even more. Great motor, no complaints at all.
