New Rig
I will be getting my new mm rig friday and was wondering what are must have's to keep in the boat for emergency. Ive had a outboard for years now and I am new to mud motors. JW what are some things y'all keep in your rigs for emergencies while hunting.
I will be posting a full review as well after I run the boat. Its a 1754 svw4 excel with boss 37 EFI.

Re: New Rig
Put you some gator glide on that bad boy! It'll make a world of difference... And quack is right, the more you ride the better you'll get.

Re: New Rig
Also, since it's your first time, these motors don't run like an outboard. You want to trim the motor up to where about half of the prop is out the water, and half in. you want to be throwing a rooster tail.
you will get way better speeds if you don't keep the prop submerged under water.

Re: New Rig
MM Brand: Boss Horsepower: 37 EFI Boat Brand: Excel Boat Size: 1754 Boat Layout: swv4
Speeds | Shallow Water: 25 mph Speeds | Deep Water: 24 mph Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: Only 2 people in boat, 11 gallons of fuel Conditions Tested In: calm water, no wind
Comments: (First time mm owner). Boat seems to handle good, runs good in shallow mud flats (surprised how good), motor pulls good on the low end, I figured it would go a little faster on the top end. Boat will be mainly used in flooded timber. Planning on doing the gator glide on the boat.
Any recommendations for furthering the boats performance or hull/motor longevity would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: New Rig
Best advice ever give to me concerning owning/operating a MM rig.... for get how much it cost, forget how much it is to fix it, DRIVE IT LIKE YA STOLE IT!!!! LOL after you get some stick time and get into a couple pickles you'll learn just how true this is. I'm about to own my 7th (of different size boat motor combos) and the only real bad stuck situations i can think of being in over the years were because i got scared and let off the throttle or i chickened out and tried to not go thru where i was headed and fell into a worse situation than if i would have just hammered down!!
As for what i would get.... a good push pole, lights, solid grab bar, and ALWAYS WEAR THAT KILL SWITCH LINE.... ALWAYS!!!!

Re: New Rig
Where are you located? It would probably help if you got with somebody that owns a mud rig and get an idea what you should realistically expect out of one.

Re: New Rig
Where exactly? from the looks of that trash can in the back ground and the quality of those houses, possibly El Dorado? I work in Warren, and live just north of Moro Bay. Another friend of mine, BigRich on here is around Fordyce.

Stout push pole for prying, a machete or two, zip ties, tool bag, just to name a few. Those items have saved me multiple times.
