Post Excel F4
Guys I am new to the boat purchasing experience and think I've decided on the excel F4 (new). I want a boat that can be used mainly for duck hunting in skinny water while at the same time be used for shallow water on the coast for chasing reds inside the marsh. Please let me know of your experiences with this boat.

I have a F86 with the F4 layout the only thing that I would change about it is the hunt deck goes under water a little to much, like if you stand on it, other than that it's a great boat. But if I was in the market for a new rig I'd look hard at a prodigy. But good luck with your new boat!

Look through this section for reviews people have already posted. If you have a question you want answered, the boats and blinds forum is the place for boat info, and engines and mods for engine info. If you want a comparison on frames, lower unit has some good info, as does the cyber mudfest. Ultimately, this site has been around a while, and there are tons of posts and topics to read through that answer the exact concerns you may have.
Just an fyi, though: excel isn't a favorite on this site. You'll get a few people that'll give you an objective opinion on them, everyone else hates the parent company, and won't have much nice to say. Go through searching the site to gather the info you're looking for.

I got the excel F4! If I could do it all over again I wouldn't look any where but prodigy!! I like the layout on excel, but if u hunt stumps don't even think about it! Just my opinion! I would get 3/16 hull with as many stringers they could fit! And really like prodigy timber layout!

My buddy picked up an Excel months ago and is very displeased. Customer service has been a nightmare, it seems the boat dents just looking at obstructions. Best bet is a custom rig Prodigy, Phowler, Gator trax etc.

If you run stumps get the F86. I've hit some bad stumps with mine, so far no dents. I've ran stumps on Toledo Bend and hit my share, but I run other places where there are cypress knees and I think they are worst, but like I said no dents yet. I really like the layout, and it turns where you point it. I don't like how quickly the hunt deck goes under water, and it doesn't have as much storage or as much as I would like, (lol) really that's probably a good thing cause I'd just be trying to carry more weight...

What size bottom is your excel the 51 or 54? Also I seen on the other forum where somebody weighed that motor and it was nearly 100lbs more than the rest of our belt drive motors.

51.
I was told it weights 300lbs. I have not weighed though.
I couldn't be happier with the motor!

Seems like I remember somebody posting a pic of it on the scale weighing 365, that was before the company was sold to boss tho so it could be lighter now

I check with Boss to be sure, all H's weigh right at 338 lbs., Gator Tail and Mud Buddy right at 275 lbs., and Pro Drive is right 340 lbs.
