Not every hull works with every MM brand ! Start with the hulls each MM sells and test drive matched sets... 18x48 is about the best overall size but wider will be more stable and better under extremely heavy loads but hurt when squeezing thru timber.... |

Your specific criteria are a bit mutually exclusive. For an 18ft boat, a 60 width would be better for load carrying than a 48, but the 48 would likely be faster. 54 would probably be good for your expected loads with that motor to meet your expectations. |

Big boats carry a load better and small boats run faster when empty, at least that seems to be the general rule of thumb. If you carry a lot of heavy loads the 1854 is going to be the best all around in my opinion. If I hunted two guys all the time and carried light fishing loads I would go with an 1751 but I always seems to have three guys and sometimes four. |

As the other responses have stated 1854 should haul the load you described well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This is an 1854...it was just about max'd out for load that day. Left the launch and got on step in shallow water out of the wind/current, no problem. Stopped to shift some weight around in the deep water and had trouble getting it to break over against the wind/current...and no shallow water anywhere around. Turned it with the current/wind, she rock and rolled and never looked back. Just for references; 16 gallons of fuel in built-in tank, extra 5 gallons, 80 lbs of ice, 30 pound bundle of firewood, 5 gallon prop an bottle (40 lbs), 2 batteries, trolling motor, 5 dozen weighted keel deeks, 2 flappers and a swimmer, 2 shotguns, bunch of ammo, waders, 2 baitcasters, tackle box, tent, cot, camping gear, clothes, groceries and water....prolly sums it up. I know a lot of folks might not like em but 20' works wonders with weight. Last year opening day I had a 4 man huntin load in my 2048 cc and would hold about 22-23 or so with a stock GTR. And would hold 27 with light load. Not a speed demon but I was happy with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If I had to change a single thing about my 1860, Id make it a 20'. It's does really well just like it sits but I've already figured out how to fill it up with junk ![]() |

There are multiple people running single motors on 20ft, 1860, etc boats, and by a lot of the normal argument here, that's not gonna perform well. Those people never have complaints. A 20 footer with a single motor is fine. Even without mods, it'll do 27, as proven by Brandon on a 2048. |

Hell, if I remember right, I think Hernaja1 said they put a single motor on his build just to see how it ran, and it still got on step at 25 mph or so. And that's a 20x72 boat. Not a small boat by any means... My next boat will either be duals, or an 18x52. With a PD of Course ![]() ![]() |

I just meant if it was a 20x54 or larger. I have no doubt that a 20x48 or similar will run. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Word money, when the time comes for me to get a new boat it may very well be a 20 footer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you imagine a 7' peice of aluminum 24" wide with a couple 1x2's on it it's not much weight at all. People act like its a big deal going from 18 to 20. I used to think a 14' was plenty but I'll prolly have a 20' boat next time |

The big Go-Devil 1860's get pretty small pretty quick. With 3 dudes with full gear and 3 blinds it was just about max capacity. |

I've run a bunch of smaller boats and an 1854, 1850, and now a 2060. I'll take the 2060 over any other boat any day. It hauls pretty much anything you can put in it. And that's with pretty much a stock GTR. |

1748 and can tote whatever I want. Went to camp the other day to do some work. 15 sheets of 3/8 beadboard plywood, tools, 8' ladder, 14 gal of fuel, (2) 5 gallon gas cans, (15) 2x4x8, chainsaw, ice chest for the weekend and all my other shit ran 28.7. I do have a stage 2 engine though, but the 1748 has suited me well. Square chine, it does slide in the turns, but I've been running them a while and know when to let off. |
