1851 Prodigy 37EFI HDR
So I have been a member on here for a little while but have been mainly reading and learning. With the help of everyone on here I finally bought my dream boat. I have been very happy with the boat and motor so far. Chad definitely makes one hell of a boat. I live in Tally Fl if anyone is interested in getting up and riding one day.
MM Brand: Mud Buddy HDR Horsepower:37efi Boat Brand: Prodigy Boat Size: 1851 Boat Layout: Extended deck, hunt deck, 6" Catwalk, Catwalk trays, half box, bow rails.
Speeds | Shallow Water: Has not been less than 1ft and was not testing speed then Speeds | Deep Water: 30 unloaded, 27 partially loaded Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: Total load was pretty light with 3 people fishing tackle and a cooler. Conditions Tested In: Deep water, no wind. Did well in shallow areas with buck brush but wasnt going for speed. Got off the trail once and just hammered the throttle to get out and just demolished some buck brush.
Comments: I love the boat and motor. I wish I would have had them to the hydro turf. Once I figured it out it wasnt bad, but there are a few mistakes I made that I will have to live with. The Only complaint with the motor is that it doesnt sit in the lock position right and will bounce out if I hit a decent bump in the road.

Do you have a cotter pin in the hole on the travel lock?

Re: 1851 Prodigy 37EFI HDR
Yea. It's the left and right part that bounces out. It's like the male side that fits into the slot on the engine mount isn't tall enough when i take the trim down to let it sit on the pin. So I have to trim it up about a half inch.

The mounting plate is not bent at all. At least as far as I can tell.

Re: 1851 Prodigy 37EFI HDR
This is a pic of it sitting about a quarter inch or so on the trim past the travel lock pin. If I let it sit on the pin completely off the trim its almost flush and bounces off. It does not look bent at all.

Slow down you are driving too fast and make sure you are not bouncing on the trim cylinder.

Re: 1851 Prodigy 37EFI HDR
Thanks for the reply duc. But I really don't think it's my driving. I would have to almost stop and crawl over any type of bump in the road. Which that is never going to happen and not realistic. I'm literally driving it home down i75 at 55 mph and hit a small bump that I could barely feel and it popped out.

Re: 1851 Prodigy 37EFI HDR
Problem solved. Called mud buddy. Seems they have an issue with some new motors doing this and have an extra plate to mount under the other one.

Re: 1851 Prodigy 37EFI HDR
I've seen it happen more than it should. It'll wear that tab some and it'll only get worse. If the pin has too much play, that's what happens. I just bent the plate down a bit on that edge so it wouldn't pop out, but you can also get a better pin option. Use a pin that doesn't stay attached to the frame instead of that spring loaded one. You can fit one to the size of the holes, and it'll eliminate that play the stock pin has and keep the motor from bouncing like that.

Re: 1851 Prodigy 37EFI HDR
My Black Death that I bought this past November does the same, drives me nuts! I can drive 3 miles down the road with no real bumps at all and it turns. What exactly do y'all do to stop it?

Re: 1851 Prodigy 37EFI HDR
If anyone is having an issue with this, call Mud Buddy, and have them send you one of these.
bolt it to the bottom of the slot.
DO NOT pin your motor up with the trim for trailering. You want it riding on the round pin, not your trim actuator.

Re: 1851 Prodigy 37EFI HDR
MrBiggle did you install your own turf? I am picking my prodigy ( almost exact boat and motor) up this week and will be putting the turf in myself. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks
