1954 prodigy 3/16ths,open layout with a hunt deck,and a 37 Efi gen 4 prodrive.i was going 24 mph at 4040 rpms in deep water with 600lbs worth of weight in the boat.Is this normal speed or should I be getting more speed and rpms out of this setup,because these rpms seem kind of low,the motor only has 7hrs on it? Mods,if this is in the wrong section can you move it please. |

Speeds sound about right with 600 pounds inside. I run a 1854 open prodigy with an HDR37, I'll run 28-29 solo and 24 at best with 3 people (600 pounds worth of people) in the boat. Your RPMs do sound a little low but nothing looks crazy off. How's your prop? |

The prop is still brand new,but Brian at pro drive said that the rpms might increase after I break it in. |

Still feel you should be getting higher rpms, have you tried running a light load to see if they come up? Was having issues with mine and similar speeds, and light/heavy load rpms would still be about the same and not come up much further past 4000. Try with a light load and let us know. |

I tried it with just 300lbs and it still stayed in the same rpm range. |

That's a big heavy boat. I was around 4200 stock with a gen 4 efi on a 19x46 skiff which is bare bones. |

I think you got an issue if rpms dont rise a little when you lighten load significantly, you could have the same issue I had with the cam. You could take of the valve covers and check to see if both rockers are lifiting the same amount on both sides. Or you could call KP and tell him whats up. Mine was only doing 3900-4000 with light or heavy loads and had a cam profile issue that prevented the intake valve from opening all the way. Put new motor on now getting 4450 rpms and 30.somethin on a 1748 PD. |

You said the hull was 3/16ths. Sounds like a heavy hull to me on an 1954. Could this be one of the reasons that you're only going 24 in deep water? Sounds pretty good to me... |

That sounds about right to me. I have a WC 1854, 3/16" bottom, 24" 1/8" sides running a gen 3 36pd efi. On a good day with an empty boat (I mean empty..no troller, troller battery, min fuel, no passengers, etc..) and the wind to my back I can see 26mph. With a hunt load solo I'm at 22-23ish and with a partner 19-21ish. It's a big heavy boat and not very fast. . |

Speed sounds good to me with 600lbs. and that heavy ass hull. Have you had MM's before? When you first start out there's a learning curve with where to run that prop. Easiest way is to get WOT and then slowly keep kicking it up a little at a time until you start losing speed then kick down just a tad. You should be kicking up a pretty good rooster tail....some people don't get that coming from an outboard on inboard drive boat. I don't remember where the stock rev limiter is set, but I thought it was around 4400-4500??? Mine is set at 4900 right now with the level 3 and I can still bang that thing like a drum with an 1854 CC hull and a worked prop. |
