I bought a 23HP GD LT 3years ago. I recently decided I really wanted something different on the 18x44 GD. So last Friday me and Bart dropped a new 35SD on it. Well actually Bart did all the work while I told him BS stories about Roy Rogers. As you kids know, us retirees try not to leave the house on weekends. So today I slipped it in the water at Hugo about 9AM. Tipped my hat to uncle Hugo while there. Ran down to the mouth of Long Island Bayou. Over to Trinity River and down to the bay. Played with the trim a bit but Bart had it close to start with. Back down Long Island. Waved at the same folks fishing again. Looked at the GPS a few times and saw 26.8 MPH and 3700RPM. I decided to run some more so I could just click off some time and get to the 5HR oil change quicker. So ran towards Reds and waved at the red headed Anglo crabber again. He was running a El Pescador, cool. Went halfway down Reds and decided to get out of the wind so did a 180 and headed up Old River. I ran about halfway up to 1409 and found a wide spot to turn around. Looked at the phone it was 11AM. Ahhh...I want to run some more and don't want to go home anyway. One more trip down Long Island. Came back out of Long Island and headed to Hugo because I was getting tired. Damned Sperry deck shoes have no support. So I'm ripping wide open headed to Hugo and wave at the red headed crabber again. Then it quits. Oh crap. What happened. (Y'all already know, don't ya?) Went to the bow and shook the gas tank. Very empty. I could see the buoy at Hugo. Well I guess I'll see if this WalMart MinnKota and the WalMart battery will get me back. The red headed crabber swung by and offered a tow...nah, I think I'll make it. I did.
So the 35 GD SD will run 2.46 hours on 5.5 gallons of gas. And run quite well. Thanks Bart!
Think I'll do Luces Bayou tomorrow.

Curious how slow the 23lt pushed the 1844?

17.8 mph per the same Lowrance GPS.
It was fast enough, well sorta. I'm an old fart with a bad back and that LT worked my arse off.
Also was a bit embarrassing bouncing off docks, the bank, and putting it on the trailer sideways. LOL
May have worked better on a shorter boat...turning radius of a destroyer as opposed to an aircraft carrier.
