I'd recommend going back to search this topic, there are lots of threads started on this already.

But generally, the Excel hulls don't have a very good reputation around here.

Thanks, do you know how to move this post to a different category?

I think one of the mods will have to come by and move it.

In those other posts you'll generally find that folks think you can get a better built hull that will weigh less and perform better than an excel. They also believe you can get a better boat for less money.

Now that being said, that may not be true, and there are plenty of folks out there who like their excel. I've never been in one, so I can't weigh in on my opinion of them.

I would focus on either a custom built hull or a Prodrive hull.

If you want a "manufacturer" hull, then go Prodrive.

If not, seek out one of the many custom builders on this site.

What was your purpose for looking at an Excel for a PD?

Well I'm just torn between an excel and a prodigy.

But why?

What are you reasons for singling out those two?

If you have your mind made up already, then good luck.

But a PD hull is matched to a PD motor and who better....

If you are set on one of those, then by all accounts Prodigy is a well made boat-just a little pricey.

I would do a lot more research and dig deeper than just the Brand Name of the boat.

Another good reason to work with a custom builder-they can help you design exactly what you need/want. Sometimes telling you things you don't want to hear, but need to.

There are a lot of factors that go into in -from where and what you run (mud, stumps, veggies, sand, deep water, big water, etc, etc,,,,,) to what your usages are of the boat, and the motor you are putting on it.

If you want honest feedback from folks on here, you need to post up a lot more info then "I am putting a PD on it" ...... But they are literally hundreds of threads on here about boats that you can research on your own. A lot of dumb ass info from folks that don't know what they are talking about, but a lot of good info as well. You just have to sort through it.

Hope you get what you want....

Excel boats are the nickelback of the mud boat world. That should be reason enough.

IMO the hull you like best is the right one. That being said a custom build will be yours with what you want on it. I went with a Uncle J after pricing Gator Tail, Gator Trax, Prodigy, and Pro Drive. My boat is a little heavy but will 30-31 2 adults, 3 adults 28-30,4 adults 26-27 and did that all day at Caddo. but in the end I like it and its roomy with 2 and ok with 4.

BTW built in metal tank of at least 15 gal. you wont regret it.
