Had marcus do the heads on my GTR 35 on a 1754 gator tail extreme with a 3/16 bottom. I replaced my powerhead last year with a brand new one and at ~48 hrs sent them to him. This is an honest review and none of the "my stock motor carried an elephant 37 mph".

My original valves leaked, and had daylight coming through them. Didn't care to do a leakdown but it was probably around 30%.

Marcus decked them .050, port, polish, springs, welded the rocker bosses, 3 angle valve job, etc.

I put the heads back on and ran it this past weekend with a stock exhaust, so this comparison will tell you the difference between completely stock to heads. I have a BPS Q that I just installed and will post those results after I run it this weekend so we can see if any additional gains were made.

With the stock motor I usually ran 3800-3900 RPMs depending on the load. With myself, I ran around 25, with two guys I got about 21.5 but was less with gear, and then it went lower from there. 2 guys and a heavy hunting load I ran 19, but took 250-300 yards to plane. It was slow. Most loads usually took me 100-250 yards to get on plane but with a big load that extended even further.

I ran this weekend with me, my dad, (each 200lbs), cooler, 3/16 bottom, polling platform, 8ft rod box, winch, and misc stuff and I was turning 4150 with a used big blade at 25mph in deep water (40ft) with some light chop. That was a solid 4 mph difference, maybe more. The hole shot decreased to probably 30 yards. The low end (which is what I care about) was dramatically different. You can feel it is much more responsive and picks up fast. I don't stall at 13 mph trying to get on plane anymore and instead and up and running hard with a decent load.

I am very pleased with the headwork. It took roughly 2 weeks including shipping each way to get the heads done. Marcus is a great guy and his work and service is top notch.

I'll be running the boat bowfishing this weekend where I can really test load carrying and shallow water speeds.

I intend to post continued updates when I get numbers with the exhaust and later I'll probably toss a cam in as well.

Ran yesterday for 5 hrs bowfishing and riding. Minimal top end loss when going from 2-3 guys, and the hole shot just barely extended any more. With a heavy load of 3 guys, polling platform, loaded rod box, winch, tools, two batteries, trolling motor, cooler, bows, etc I ran about 24-25 no matter positioning of people, gear, etc.

Good time on the water.

For sure. Gonna be running it hard this week out fishing. I've been really pleased with how it's been pushing these heavy loads.

And we've discovered that at least with this subject, your opinion is wrong. Stay buddies with your lawyer, and go find another forum to piss in. You have ceased to participate in a meaningful way here. No one is saying you should have them work your motor, but you're saying their word doesn't matter, and to those they've helped or done work for, it does. It's factual, not an opinion. Go get your mudbuddy warranty, and go back to TOS where your opinion carries some weight, wrong or not.

Hey maxxis85, what do you charge to work the heads on a 40 and what kind of performance gains have you seen in worked heads on the new 40s?

Take a Look at these Cylinder heads from a BIG name manufacturer. They don't lie when they install "large valves", But look at all the valve overlapping the seat. That helps flow REALLY well. Look close as you can see the Shiny part That is where the valve seats... It is only about .010 of seat area where it should be at Minimum .040 seat for proper sealing and cooling of the valve. It has a single angle on the seat aswell. Again Big name brand heads with cleaned up ports and a shitty valve job.

bps bowl.jpg
Now take a look at the Bowl and roof. After spending BIG money on heads, you would thing the bowl would blend into the seat, the valves would seal, and the roof would streamline into the bowl. Maybe I'm doing it all wrong by charging the same amount and doing more work. It amazes me that so many people are getting ripped off out of their hard earned money for crappy work. By a company that offers a "written warranty"
