Looking for opinions. I’m going to buy a new 40hp gator tail center console. This rig will be used to hunt, fish, frog, crab, etc. All recreational. I can’t decide between an 18x54 or 17x54 gator tail hull. I don’t know if the 17 will be quite enough space (which I’m sure it’s fine) , but I don’t want to sacrifice speed by going with the 18 either. What do you guys have experience wise and preferences? Longer hull will plane faster. |

See saw effect, 18' will support the weight of the motor and balance better for shallow water also. I've had both and 18' is better all around. |
