MM Brand:Mudbuddy HDR Horsepower:50 Boat Brand:Prodigy Boat Size:1851 Boat Layout:3/16 bottom, 10" catwalks with trays, hunt deck, front deck with top hatch, 2 half boxes, lights, bilge, etc. Speeds | Shallow Water:34-35 light 30-31 with moderate load. Speeds | Deep Water:almost the same as shallow, 1mph slower at times. Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: Light = myself 195lbs, 1 battery, 8 gal gas, misc gear in storage areas. Conditions Tested In: lake water, calm winds, no chop Comments:This is actually an updated review from a year or so ago. Upgraded from a 37 to the 5000. Blew factory cam at 21 hours so had a local boat mechanic work it over with new Delta Performance heads and cam, kept the Q exhaust. Could have gotten a warranty claim but the mechanic does a ton of work for us and gave me a very good price on fixing/upgrading so I just let him do it. Motor really seemed to liven up with the new work done. Running 34.5 steady with an empty boat and Merc 3 blade. 2 guys, 80lbs dog, and 50qt cooler, holds 30 with hammer prop. Holeshot with the hammer is awesome. I can be on plane and rolling within 2 boat lengths. I love the rig for what its built for, running shallow cypress brakes, mud flats, and some straight line timber runs. It will literally go places 95% of boats won't. The only con I really have is turning. If you are running tight flooded timber or winding rivers, you better have it built to play bumper boats. ____________________________________________________________ |

If you get time, try the merc 3 blade w/ a 12 pitch. Something tells me you wont sacrifice anything on the hole shot but will gain 2-3 mph. |

It’s possible, but prodigy’s are heavy. If you can find a buddy with one, run his before you spend your money on it |
