Upgrade 9hp LT
I have a 9hp Aluminum Beavertail that pushes my boat fine when empty or has a small load. I can run ~13mph which is fast enough on a windy little river and my run is under 2 miles. Now when I throw my hunting gear and dog in the boat it drops to about 8mph. Would a 13hp motor provide enough push to get back to my 12-13mph range? The boat is a very light, very old 14x42 rivited flat bottom. I've got a line on a used 13hp honda for $300.

Re: Upgrade 9hp LT
I'm new to this group. Looking for a small motor to go on a 13 ft Gheenoe. If you upgrade, let me know. I would be interested in your 9hp depending on the weight.

Re: Upgrade 9hp LT
I was going to do the opposite go from a 16hp to a 9hp and coco at go devil said big mistake. he said for the trade off i wouldnt get any lighter cause the weight difference is only about 10 lbs by the time you fill up the gas tank. Plus single cylinders have more vibration. my 2 cents would be go for a v twin.
