Re: bent up skeg
I'de grinde it back down it the metal is still good. As far as the handle if you use a tubing bender it will work better than just trying to bend it b/c by just trying to bend it you risk creasing it.

Re: bent up skeg
If you take too much off with the grinder you will get more prop hits.

Re: bent up skeg
is there a way to add on to it. like a bolt on skeg to replace a worn out one.

Re: bent up skeg
I had the same problem. I have a 27 horse MB and the skegs on them are flimsy in my opinion. At first I used a large crescent wrench to bend the skeg back into place. It worked ok, but I was concerned the metal was weakened and would eventually start to bend back from hitting stuff. I made a template of the skeg and found some 14 ga. flat stock. I traced the outline of the skeg and cut out the shape from the flat stock. I drilled holes throughout the flat stock. I then welded the stock onto the skeg along the edges and then filled in the holes. The welding process sucked the skeg back to being straight. I am not a professional welder by any stretch of the imagination, but I am learning. I feel the project turned out well. So, if you have any welding abilities, it will probably turn out better than mine. Good Luck.
