longtail weight
recently bought a longtail. I am wondering if it is to heavy for a 14 ft. I would say w/o motor it weighs between 100-150 very heavy duty.

Re: longtail weight
i run a 1440 with a 16hp gd and i have a friend that runs a 1436 with a 16hp mb and they run ok. i did put on pods however so i could carry more weight. I was conserned in the beginning too, so i called godevil and talked to warren coco. He said dont drop any smaller an engine. you really dont loose that much weight because the 9-13hp are almost as heavy when you add fuel to the built on gas tanks. Plus he said i'd miss them horses too.

Re: longtail weight
I ran a 25 hp go devil on a 1456 flat bottom jon/with pods. She ran ok but it sunk twice too. I wouldn't run without pods on your combo. Spring for a set of pods from somewhere you'll need em.
The second time I sunk her in 12' of brown cold water in Mississippi. The only thing showing was my 150 watt hal. driving lights!!!!!!!! Had to have a few of my buddies from down there hep me out. They now call themselves Moon Lake boat recovery.
PS: Moonshine and a bacon and eggs breakfast was had after the raising while the bilge ran. But the shine was apple pie. Mmmmmmmm mmmmmm. Smoke
