1432 jon with 13 hp predator

|
 1432 jon with 13 hp predator I have a 14' 42" wide Jon boat. Looking to build a 13 horse predator or Honda long shaft. Anyone have experience with the speed capabilities of the 13hp?
I will eventually go to a bigger boat . Will this motor still be sufficient or should I build something bigger?

Re: 1432 jon with 13 hp predator I have a Honda GX340 11hp on a 16x48 and with decoys, dog and myself I get a solid 14mph. I would think with a shorter, lighter and skinnier boat you should be able to hit 16 to 18. Just a guess.

Re: 1432 jon with 13 hp predator i have put that predator on that size jon boat. It had pods. I used a 8 x 6 prop. The owner was happy. !5 + MPH with a hunting load and 2 hunters.

Re: 1432 jon with 13 hp predator I'm running a 390 honda on a 1548 mod v. 16 mph just me and 10- 12 mph one other and hunt load.
