Posted this in another section but realized I should have this topic here.

Well I didnt think it through and bought a longtail with the regular 72' shaft. My boat has a 21" transom if I remember correctly. Obviously I should have gotten the longer frame mudbuddy longtail, but too late now. I thought about putting a jackplate on but that doesn't seem like it would fit the longtail and drop it enough. End of the day looks like I'm gonna have to trim the transom. Does anyone in alabama (near birmingham) weld and know how to do that? Or have any of yall had it done at a shop and know how much it would cost?

price of aluminum welding without material is usually 75-100/hr not cheap by no means and your looking at a few hours of welding to drop it down plus material cost

Yeah that's not good. Wish there was a better solution than trimming the transom but I can't think of any

I appreciate that. I'm not 100% sure it'll need to be done. My boat is at home, and I'm deployed so I can't guess within a few inches what the transom height is. I'm gettin someone else to measure for me today to find out if I need it done
