Re: 35 HP Backwater 71" LS Newbie Do's and dont's
That's not exactly what I would call open water. Main point of the video was to show you that South Louisiana isn't the only place with rough terrain and my rig doesn't get babied. That's not the toughest spot we run, but my rig gets left in our boat shed on our farm and gets ran on that same trail everyday of season. Halfway through season and we've already tore shafts out of a Beavertail and a homemade longtail. The Backwater keeps on ticking.

Re: 35 HP Backwater 71" LS Newbie Do's and dont's
I never said a backwater wouldn't last, wouldn't make it through shit, (however on the same boat my godevil did outshine a backwater through 4" of water over soft mud and grass one day, but the backwater eventually made it.) all I said is the frame isn't balanced, the cav plate sucks, it wasn't any easier to drive than my godevil actually I prefer the godevil on ease of driving bc of the balanced frame and the handle height. And most off its a decent motor but it ain't "the best hands down" like all the fan boys keep saying. I think most people gravitate to them bc they look cooler.

One more point of interest. My buddy who was running that backwater was running the same areas as me. Stumps rocks and hard bottom. He went to sell it and the buyer says "hey whys the skeg all bent up?" And my buddy is like wtf? Didn't know it was bent but sure enough just from normal every day running something had done a number on the skeg. My godevils have ran the same waters with multiple rock strikes on every trip out and never have I had to deal with a bent skeg.

Re: 35 HP Backwater 71" LS Newbie Do's and dont's
When it comes to longtails, MY club has only decided your club doesn't like backwater longtails. My club likes them all for many of the same reasons and would happily run any of the 3 being primarily discussed if I had a need for a longtail. I don't currently have that need, so I run a surface drive. Is there a fan club? Sure. If you get tired of it, arguing isn't going to stop it. Not reading it, however, means you don't have anything to be tired of.
