   |   18hp duromax rat tail buildHey all,
New to the forum and started a new project, so I've been soaking up some info. My 6.5hp Thailand longtail has worked well pushing my 14x36, but its time for an upgrade. I recently got this farm engineered rat tail for $200, it was set up as a chain/sprocket with a 5/8" keyed prop. I'm cutting it down and threading it to fit a 3/4" threaded BPS 9x5 tiger prop and swapping out to a u-joint assembly. Also replaced the some bearings and seals. Finally its being married up to a 18hp Duromax. I'm open to any and all feedback or pointers as this is my first build.

 Thanks for the add!

   |   Re: 18hp duromax rat tail buildFinally made a little progress. I cut the tappered 5/8 portion off the end of the shaft, then threaded it to 3/4 #10 to fit the BPS tiger 9x5. Still not sure how well the 18hp will turn that size prop on my 1436 flat bottom, but thats what the BPS website recommends.
