Post subject: | question |
I just bought a 23 hp vanguard and I'm not sure how they do on gas. I was thinking about buying a 3 gallon tank but I hate to run out of gas in the middle of a ride. Can anyone give me some info on these motors. Thanks |

I would never put anything less than a 5GA tank in any boat I own. |

I am running a 23 sd and I can go around 16-18 miles roughly on 3 gallons. That about what I put back in the 6 gal tank at the end of the hunt. |

Unless you know exactly where your going and have been there before I would carry more gas than 3 gal. I have a bigger motor and have burned close to 6 gal in about 20 miles and a different day running 20 miles burned maybe 3-4 gal. It depends a lot how you drive it wind and current. I have a 6 gal tank in my boat and carry another 5 gal if I go ride around. |

That includes grind time. But I also would never leave the ramp without 6 gals of gas. |

I use a three gallon because I don't go very far, but I still keep a spare gallon under the deck just in case. |

I run a 3 gal tank, and get 3-4 trips out of it, but my longest continuous drive is just under 3 miles. I switched from a 6 gal because the fuel was sitting to long, I could go almost all summer on 6 gallons. |
