Post Mudbuddy 35 needing another prop
Sorry if this has been covered but I have searched and cannot find what I need.

My buddy has a 35hp mud buddy lingtail on his 1654 boat and he is need of a new prop (1 a year at this rate)

I think the last one he got was a 10x5 and it seemed to work ok but once we get 3 guys a dog and some decoys in the boat it will not get up on plane and we max out at about 7mph.

I see many people saying they are getting better performance with smaller motors so i feel that it cannot be all the motor..

SO what prop would you all rec? and easy upgrades that will help? we are not motor guys so digging into the bottom end will prob not be a good idea for us to tackle.

If the 16x54 is an all welded modified v hull the engine will struggle. longtails like a flat bottom for optimal performance. IF you run most of the time loaded try dropping to a 9x6 and see if it will run in rpm range. prop might last longer too being a smaller diameter. good luck

I was recommended to use a 9x8 on my 34hp kohler pushing a 1648 hull. I'm still building the rig so I don't have any figures but that's what was recommended to me.

Well went with a new 10x5 tiger prop last year and its toast again, Where is the best place to get one? Im thinking 9x7 or 9x8 is what we will try this time
