Howdy. I purchased a 2006 go-devil this weekend. When I purchased it the owner let me know that both seals will probably need to be replaced after teal season. Well I was running it this weekend, hit some oysters and now there is play in the prop. So, my first thought is that I need to replace the bushing, it sounds simple but after checking out the manual online it looks more difficult than I expected. Am I just worried for no reason or should I suck it up and take it somewhere? |

If you're only replacing the bottom bushing it will be easy cause you just have to slide the whole shaft out and replace the bushing if it's the top well then you would have to take the motor off and would be a lil more diffcult but either way it's not too bad of a job. |

Aggie chick. , first where are you located. . There are locations that service go devils. , or you can have a someone do the work locally. , it's a couple hours work if everything goes smoothly. . H Finn |

I am in San Antonio, TX. I belive since the prop seems loose that it should only be the bottom bushing. Thanks for the help, sounds like it should not be too difficult, thinking about picking up a drimmel to cut through the old one. . Has anyone tried that before? |

You are correct it should just be the bottom. On an '06 you should have a bearing on top. I've never tried it but I kind of doubt a dremel would work. If I remember right that bushing is about 2.5" long and fairly thick depending on how much it is worn. A recip saw makes quick work of it though, just have to be careful not to cut the tube. |

I just replaced mine by making a couple of cuts using a reciprocating saw and working the pieces out with some big vise grips. It's not to bad of a job just take your time. Make sure to note the number that is stamped on the bushing so you get the proper replacement part. You will also need a big, big hammer and a chunk of 2X4 to beat the new bushing back in. |

if you order the bushing from GD you will have to ream it to fit the shaft as well. Just a heads up. |
