Looking for my best options on buying the most suitable hull for my 16 hp LT. Mainly only carrying 2 people (sometimes 3) and a light hunting load. Im mainly running open shallow water and hydrilla. Everything ive read says 14-16 ft. long and 36-48 in. wide on a 15 in. transom... Ive been looking at the flat bottom jon 15 x 42's from bass pro and academy but not sure how theyll perform. What do yall think my best bet is and what kind of speed do you think ill get? (i know longtails arent made for speed, just curious)

Garrett, your motor will perform great with the 1542 speed and handling wise. IF you are going to drive over obstacles and hit stumps, I doubt it will last you a season. So, If you are using it for grass flats and cattails it would be a good purchase, if you are using it in the wooded swamps I would save and buy a 16x38 mud hull or something to that effect.

I have a 15 hp go devil long tail (old skool!) & its on a old 14x44 with 20 inch sides & 15 inch transom & it works great! Apx. 15 mph or so 2 guys & fishing gear.

Had one on a 1640 riveted. Was a great setup
