I mentioned I was going to try to build a long tail with a seadoo jetski motor in another thread. Well I have made a lot of progress since then and I am going to stick it in the pond this evening to see how it works or if the little 14 ft flat bottom still floats with it on there. I'll add a pic and I could go on and on about all the details but feel free to ask anything about it. And its not finished yet, I still have final wiring to do and make a few more brackets and a grill/ shroud for the radiator. |

Well I'm still alive and the boat didn't sink so that's success right? Actually it did ok for where I am at with it. I did take some video I will upload in the morning. I was half expecting to have to build pods for the back but it's really not that bad. I wasn't able to keep track of how fast the radiator fan cycled but it never ran hot. Definitely still need to install skeg. It was kinda hard to drive with weight balance, fulcrum point, steering friction, and handle height still needing adjustment. I knew the power band of the two stroke would be a challenge to overcome but I need a little more room to open it up and fine tune adjustments. But at least I know now that this will work and I can keep moving forward with it. |

That's awesome! I'd just add a skeg like you mentioned and then run a larger prop like a hammer or big blade. Major props, that's an awesome idea. Oh an much more appealing than hardie's bullshit |

If you can get the right prop and keep it in the water, that bastard will scoot. Props to you for building that rig. |

Thanks guys, I kinda just took a shot in the dark with the prop, it's a 10x8 from hill marine. I chose them because of their prop exchange. If I want to go bigger I can send this one back and just pay the diff in price and shipping. I need to keeping playing with it and get some more space before I feel comfortable getting a bigger prop. It felt like driving a dirt track car vs a civic. Even though I've never driven a dirt car lol. |

The good news is if you ever upgrade to a larger hull I'm pretty sure your trailer could handle it. That thing is gonna roll when you get it dialed in. I'd have to run the exhaust to the water though. Bad ass for sure |

In Thailand they also use the 4 stroke rotax motors. But I'm curious to see that thing hit the power band. Bet you'll need to be sitting down! It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face. |

Looks good! I bet that thing will fly when you get a chance to open it up. Make sure you have a kill switch hooked up and connected to you. If it bites on something it could put you in the water in a hurry. A cavitation plate would be a good idea as well. |

Your shoulder would thank you for a cav plate after a decent run. I've been following you since you started this, very nice. Keep us updated on how she runs. Wear your kill switch too, never know what's around the corner. Good build bud |

You'll enjoy a skeg as well. Makes it a little harder to turn but protects the prop from most stuff. It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face. |

I've seen one of these engines built into a what they called a jet Jon. It was a 14 ft Jon boat. It used the in gone and jet drive from a jet ski. That thing hauled ass Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk |

Made a couple changes and added a few features so plan to test again tomorrow if the water isn't way too high. Added skeg, muffler, better mounting plate, safety switch lanyard, adjusted handle length and height, and radiator shroud. |

Been super busy with work so idk when I'll get a video up but it won't be super exciting but maybe something to laugh at. It ran hot and boiled most of my coolant out before I got to do much with it. Maybe because the muffler back pressure holding more heat in the exhaust water manifold idk. Also I think I do need to make some pods to get the front down so maybe it will steer worth a crap. I'm not giving up but I do have to take a break cause work is getting crazy. |
