 LONGTAIL BEARING HOUSING
Hello guys, Ive recently decided to build a longtail from scratch and have a few questions regarding the upper and lower bearing housings. I really like the design that back water is using but am trying to keep my cost down as low as reasonably practical. I have a laithe and all the necessary tools for the job however I don't have much experience with longtails. For the Lower bearing housing anyone have any idea of the bearing width that they are using for the 3 inside of the bearing housing?
Also, is the housing itself tapped all the way through or just enough for the weldment and end cap to get a good enough grab to make the o-ring on each side form a seal?
Any input is appreciated as building a bearing housing is one task I have never performed.
