I plan on building a 6.5 hp longtail (motor from harbor freight). I ordered the mud motor plans but i hear alot of people saying that the plans are good but they do a decent amount of modifications what are those modifications? Also anything i should be aware of before or during the build? Thanks |

I did the exact same thing as the book. I works pretty well the way it is. Maybe one thing I added was add an extra zerk on bottom of shaft. What size transom do you have? Im waiting now for my prop to come in to test. I have a 20" transom and I need a longer shaft than the book calls for. Im starting a 2nd one here this week and making a longer one for my boat. I was thinking 85"-100". Not sure what yet. |
