25hp kohler GDLT with a worn GD 9x7
Rpm loaded 3750 unloaded 3800

16x48 rivited thick hull with plywood floors.

18mph solo and 16mph with two people and gear.
Recently lost performance in lillies.

So factory GD 9x7 vs the Backwater 9x7
Id like to be able to have better lilly performance.
As long as top speed stays near same.

Use to run 20mph.
I read somewhere that the GD prop wears slower and pushes more thrust than the backwaters.

Any opinions from someone who ran both props?
How does the Hill Marine Signature series compare.

My boat is heavy.
Ride alot of open water, alot of vegetation and soft mud 4"-3' of water.

Im leaning more towards the backwater.

Backwater 9x6 , i know its not on your option list buts its a real good one imo. Its got 20mph capability easy

My concern is that gd is the only lontail 25hp kohler that came factory with a 9x7
Others list a 9x6.Im my brother has a 9x6 that was repitched 9x7 and its about 5% work vs my 15% worn and with his prop I can run 18mph again.
Suppose I turn a new 9x6 at 3700 rpm.
Will that perform better than the 9x7 turning 3500 rpm

Both pushing 2 people thru lillies is my concern.

Ive run the other props you mention and the 9x6 does rev a little higher but was also just as fast with the 9x6 and the 9x6 will prob help with your heavy boat through lillies as you say. I cant say im right or wrong with your rig, just an opinion.

I always had better performance out of my longtail dropping pitch and letting the little engine sing. Carried a load better and ran faster unloaded as well. I was seeing 20+ on a 1548 and 20hp Honda with a 9x4 with added cup turning 4300ish

Ran a 9x6, 9x7, and 9x8 Backwater on a Backwater SWOMP. Alweld 14x42 with a 22hp Predator.

The 9x7 ran the quickest (22/23), but dropped to 16 with a load. 3700-3800.
The 9x6 ran 21, and could hold 17 easy with a load, occasionally bumping 19. 3800-3900.
The 9x8 did't work for my setup.

Best prop I ran on my old 25 was 9x5. Pushed the hardest in the mud with a load. 9x6 was very good also. 9x7 was to much prop. Not enough rpm. This was with all mud buddy tiger props

Question for you reharbert...

I am looking at putting together the same combination you spoke about in your post with the backwater SWOMP and 22hp predator...just wanted to see if you were completely satisfied with that set up or if you were to do it over again, would you look into a different motor?

My brothers 9x6 was repitched to a 9x7 and it has maybe a lil more blade left on it and there is a 2mph diffrence and it carries a load better.

Haven't bought a prop yet.Been busy.

My prop was a 9x7 now measures 8" exactly.

Thinking of buying a 9x6 hill marine or back water.

Anyway does a new godevil brand 9x7 actully measure 9"
Id hate to buy a new prop and not gain any performance.

Money is tight at this time.
