Longtail advice on a 1546 Xpress
What motor would be good for my 1546 Xpress mod v had a Prodrive and it didn’t like it so put it on my big boat and now tubing a 25 outboard and thinking bout swapping it for a longtail go devil thinking 23hp or maybe bigger even a 35 longtail will weight less then my Prodrive so know boat could hold it just looking for advice .

I think small block longtail would feel at home on that boat. A 23 copperhead might be real fun on it, but cost more

Re: Longtail advice on a 1546 Xpress
The mod V will hurt performance with heavier motors... That is why it runs good with a 25 outboard but not the PD...
If you are only interested in getting thru the tough stuff but not speed - the 23LT will push you thru nearly anything and likely work better than the larger LTs...
With 23 LT you will likely get 17mph solo and have trouble getting on plane when loaded with gear and two guys - but should get you just about anywhere...
Used a similar hull with only 8LT for years on a small lease with good results but it crawled thru about anything - about 5mph was tops with gear...

Why not sell the hull and get a rig that does what you really want?

And I about didn't but Jake at BW set me straight. I'm REALLY glad I didn't have to take it all back apart and move it outboard
