Post It's here!
Swomp 40 was picked up at FedEx this morning. Great packing job. One of the best I have seen. Loved that the entire motor and crate was covered in cardboard. No damage at all. Jake followed my instruction on crate size so it fits nicely in my covered pickup bed.

These motors are always heavy. Had a neighbor help get it in the garage. Have to go to work now, but taking Friday off to get the boat and slap that machine on. If I don't get out on Friday it will definitely be Saturday!

:D

A great feeling! I was also impressed by the shipping crate BW used a couple of years ago. Have fun!

OK,...So I got up early and put on the versa mount. Easy install.
Just as I was going to get my help, he tells me he has to go to his sisters, she is having surgery. :(
Tells me he will be home in a few hours. All day passes and I never see him. Other neighbor rolls up and helps me get it in place. This is a big motor. There is a different feel to it as the motor is more in the boat. Not much but enough that I can tell.

Will make one stop in the am to get a longer fuel line and clamp. Then the test ride.

Stay tuned

Glad you got it mounted!

Bring a 3/8" socket and a ratchet with your shims in case you need to do any adjusting to your cavitation plate. Once you have it properly set, apply thread lock to the bolts.

And then the rain came! And put a halt to me getting out. So I went and picked up some parts I needed to get it running
Fired it up. Started on the 2nd turn. I about fell backward when I heard this motor. Like Frank's Video, this thing is a beast, and you can feel the power as it idled in the driveway. I listened to some of the stage 2 and 3 motors online and this sound much like those. Hopefully, I can get out sometime this afternoon.

I had mine out this morning while working on duck blinds. Really blew away some guys when they saw how well it performed.

Rain and more rain...But I took it out anyway.
I was able to only get out for only 20-30 min due to the lightning.
I idled around for 10 min and mid-throttle for another 5 or so.
You can definitely feel the difference from my 35 MB.
Hold shot is incredible.
Seemed to turn well on looping turns.
With the motor more in the boat the shaft doesn't feel as long and I think this helps(77 Inch)
I did open it up for a short stretch to see how it would push my 17/60 Lowe with pods.
I hit 22.4MPH at 4400 RPM.
This was amazing considering I could only hit 17 mph with my other motor empty and 13mph fully loaded.
I think it might need more break-in time. Maybe next weekend
I almost forgot what speed was!

New here, in Iowa. Been reading the forums for a long time, but just joined. Ive been talking to Jake for over a month. Im driving up there in a couple weeks to pick up my 40, and cant wait! Its going on an 1854 welded true flatbottom. Boat is in to a fabricator right now, getting some customization done.

Had a good run Sat morning. Still breaking it in. Ran 3000RPM for a good 20 min, hitting 17 MPH, then idled around in some shallow water to get used to it's handling. It is big and powerful!

I found it easier to turn, with the motor a little forward in the boat and the prop end about 4-5 inches shorter out back.

Cavitation plate is larger than my MB, but the prop is larget also.

I tooled around in about 5-10 inches of water. On plane she was awesome. When I would sit her down in the mud, she was like all longtails and would plow right through it as long as the cavitation plate was dunked.

The wind picked up on my way in(20) and I cruised right over the chop. The blade never came out of the water and there was no bouncing.

I opened her up at the end for some speed test and topped out at 22.6 for my 17/60 Lowe with pods.
Overall I'm very pleased. The best is the low-end torque and hole shot.

Nice job Backwater! Two thumbs up here.

Real good for that hull! To hit the 20 mph threshold in a longtail is super sweet, snug that hat up or it will be gone!

Update:

Today I ran the 40 with a loaded boat. 4 dozen super mag decoy, Me, dog and my buddy. All our gear, Boat blind and tops. We were loaded down.

Ran top speed at 18 mph. For a loaded Lowe 17/60 with pods, I was happy with that speed. I did notice I need to add a shim. I could pick up 1-2 MPH when I would push down on the handle and move the blade closer to the surface.

Still loving it!
