Post subject:  Shimming a BW 40

Been having fun with the new 40. Season started and it has been great.
I did notice the other day that if I push down on the handle to move the cavatation plate upward, I immediately pick up rpms and about 2 mph.

So, I figured a shim might help.
I installed one and it helped some, but when I pushed down on the handle, again I picked up rpms and speed.
So I thought I would add 2 shims.
Before I did, I look at the cavatation plate, it extends beyond the the prop about an inch, maybe a little longer.
When I added a 2nd shim, the plate moved upward on the drive tube and the the prop was even with the edge of the plate and maybe a little beyond.

Would this be an issue? Has any one added 2 shims? How did the 40 perform?

On a side note, what rmps are you getting with a loaded boat. I'm running 3900 to 4100. Wondered what others are getting.

I think I have it dialed in.

Runs right at the surface.

4250 RPMs.

1st time I have ever been able to run a longtail sitting down..
