All,

I have the suggested amount of break in time on my motor. I was going to change the oil and noticed it had a creamy color to it on the dipstick. Normally i would suspect that water has got into the oil. Do you think that is the case here or does all the junk in the motor discolor the oil during the break in period? I can’t find anywhere that water could get in the engine and I haven’t ran or trailered it in the rain.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks

First break in oil should be changed at 5 hours. It will look creamy and brown when you change it, that's normal. I would change your oil again at 15 hours and then go to your regular 50 hour periods or 25 like some do (including myself).

Thanks for the info!

The manual said to change break in oil between 3-5 hours of use. Do to the lack of unfrozen water I won’t be able to get 5 hours of run time. Should I change it at 3.5 or wait and run it some more?

Finally got around to changing the oil today, it was more of a grey brown color when I dumped the oil from the case.

What do they put in the motors when they build them!? There was a bit of something that resembled a thick cream under the plug where you add oil.

The engines straight from Briggs are shipped without oil. Sounds like you had some moisture in your oil. This is from wild temperature changes when it sits outside. no Biggi,
