I saw some threads on this. Some seem to hint that it could be problematic to put a longtail on a hunt deck (then devolved into pods vs huntdeck). Why would that be? Is there any issues with just putting a longtail on a boat with a huntdeck as you would with a surface drive? I see some guys that had a hunt deck but then mounted the motor to the "interior" transom (false transom). Why? Is there something I'm missing like it makes turning harder or something? |

The only negative I can think of is maybe not being able to swing the tail into the boat and put it into a skeg holder for transport but that might not even be a problem |

I can spin mine around, but it's a big block, so the handle sticks way out the back and because of the false transom it angles the handle downward more than I want. I just hang flagging on my prop and skeg and leave it facing normal. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

Oh, and operation is fine. No issues at all. Im not too close to the false transom when running it standing up, and I can sit down and run it in deep water because my half box is farther forward than if I didn't have the hunt deck or if I mounted on the false transom. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

Some false transoms will be too high, some fine. Mine could stand to be a couple inches lower or the transom where the motor mounts a couple inches higher, but it works for my needs fine. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |
