Post subject:  Hunt deck with longtail??

I saw some threads on this. Some seem to hint that it could be problematic to put a longtail on a hunt deck (then devolved into pods vs huntdeck). Why would that be? Is there any issues with just putting a longtail on a boat with a huntdeck as you would with a surface drive?

I see some guys that had a hunt deck but then mounted the motor to the "interior" transom (false transom). Why?

Is there something I'm missing like it makes turning harder or something?

Just recently put a longtail on mine with a huntdeck. It's fine.

The only negative I can think of is maybe not being able to swing the tail into the boat and put it into a skeg holder for transport but that might not even be a problem

I can spin mine around, but it's a big block, so the handle sticks way out the back and because of the false transom it angles the handle downward more than I want. I just hang flagging on my prop and skeg and leave it facing normal.

Oh, and operation is fine. No issues at all. Im not too close to the false transom when running it standing up, and I can sit down and run it in deep water because my half box is farther forward than if I didn't have the hunt deck or if I mounted on the false transom.

I have a LT on my huntdeck. This is the only picture I have on my phone but I did have to get my false transom so everything would work right.

It looks like it's mounted on the transom, he just had to get the false transom cut down some.

Some false transoms will be too high, some fine. Mine could stand to be a couple inches lower or the transom where the motor mounts a couple inches higher, but it works for my needs fine.

I'm not sure how to get notifications on this.

But yall got it sorted out. Next boat will have a 2' huntdeck which would eliminate the issue
