I find it odd that the new air cleaners have a wide open hole in them. Do you guys cover this with duct tape or something when it’s put away for winter storage to prevent mice from getting in? |

The new style of air cleaner cover you are talking about isn't really that "new". Where the old style cleaner covers that were on the pre CDIs mouse proof from the factory??? |

I always stuff a paper towel in the exhaust and in the air intake (or tape) to keep spiders/bugs out. I tried duct tape on the muffler one year and the tape residue burned the next year (even after I thought I removed it with WD-40). No problems with mice where I store in my pole building (and I have traps everywhere). Only had one mouse--when I was out hunting the little bugger kept running around the boat and drove the dog nuts. I caught him that night with a glue trap. |
