I am confused by the instructions for installing prop on go devil. It says it should be able to rotate 12 to 2? Is this on the threads? Like you dont tighten the nut and jam nut all the against the prop? What is the point of this? It seems like eventually it will just lock down tight against the jam nut and not be able to move freely anyways. |

The "theory" is that you leave it a bit loose in the hopes that later it won't be a nightmare to get it back off.... Buy or borrow the GD prop removal tool when it is time to change props and put a good marine grease - like the GD shaft grease - on the threads and spin the prop on and off a few times before final greasing and locking the retaining nut down... Also make damn sure you use the soft brass washer between the prop and final stop... Without the proper tool - it is a nightmare to get the prop off two or three seasons later after salt water marsh use - no matter what you do.... |
