The street and most of its neighboring streets have turned to shit. In the 50 years I've been going to the French quarter I've never seen it this filthy and unsafe or decadent. Night before last 9 people were shot, most innocent bystanders. There were strippers standing in the streets hawking. The place smelled like a sewer. The streets and sidewalks were not being maintained. There was hardly any police presence. I don't know what has happened. Is the city broke or has the city decided to abandon the area to crime. This can't be good for the future of New Orleans.

Passed thru several times and even did some work down there when I was active duty. The wife had never been so we drove over there one weekend this past April.... She said she never wanted to go back somewhere that allows people to take a shit in the middle of the street in broad daylight with no repercussions. Then all the rainbow flags sealed the deal. I'll keep on driving on over to Gulf Shores from now on if we head east. We usually stay in Tx though, Galveston, Corpus, Padre etc...

My wife and I went 2 summers ago. First time I had been back since Katrina. Was surprised how clean everything was. City had several people with brooms and dust pans sweeping trash up all hours of the day. Plenty of police too. Only spent a few minutes in Bourbon. Stayed at the StLouis hotel. Only left the Quarter twice to go on cemetery tour and to go to the garden district. Rode the trolley through the garden district.

Had been to Bourbon several times and swore I'd never go back. The times I was there before I didn't go anywhere else. This time we did every other thing in the quarter. Had a great time. Food was good & everyone we met was nice and polite. We were back at our hotel by 8:30 every night and just hung out on the rooftop pool. We like history so Jackson Square was right up our alley. I'd go back, but never to Bourbon.

Post Katrina there was a policeman at every corner. Up until last year this was the norm. This time, though, police were no where to be found . I don't know what happened between then and now but this needs to change.

What happen is they pushed all the **** out the 3rd n 7th ward an now they hangin around canal st doin what ****** do. Only time I go to city to party is for mardi gras! Fuk them ****** an their president
