 Glueing plastics on a chainsaw
Yall seem like some bright bulbs when It comes to rigging. Ive got an older homelite chainsaw that was my grandfathers (passed not too long ago), anyways when I aquired it it was still in pretty good shape but the primer bulb cracked when we first tried to start it up... only problem is that the bulb was built into the gas cap and they no longer make replacent caps for it. I found a primer bulb that will replace the old one, however the collar that holds the edges of the bulb to the top of the cap was glued in... I didnt know if there was a glue I should try to use to get a good seal around both the buld and the cap? Thought super glue would be too brittle and have some PVC cenment but that could comprimise tbe rubber of the bulb? If anyones got any suggestions that would hold up to the vibration of a saw and create a good seal? Would really like to just see this thing run again... thanks...

Long as its not mAde of hdpe, any type of fuel resistant epoxy that works on plastic should be fine. If it's hdpe, glue won't hold. You can try to plastic weld it, but for one small project thats a lot of stuff to buy to do it right.

The gel gorilla glue should work.

You sure it's glue and not old gummed up gas? West Marine's G-Flex is the best epoxy out there for plastic, but I'm not sure about rubber.
