Georgia people???
Hoping to get some insight from any of the central GA folks... I recently accepted a new job, so my wife and I are relocating to Macon area of GA at the end of May. Since it is fast approaching, we are trying to find a house to rent for the time being before we learn about the area and buy a house. We know nothing about Macon or the surrounding area so I thought I would see what y'alls thoughts are? We don't want to end up in the ghetto, much less anywhere near it! Would love to find a house outside of town to rent, but can't find anything like that so far. At this point in the game, we would just settle for something in a decent area So my questions are: What are the best places to look at living near/around Macon? Where to definitely not live? Know anyone I can get in touch with about a house, etc? Any other advice you have to offer... Look forward to getting back to the south to run my boat more and meet a few of you folks! Thanks in advance! Robby

Georgia people???
Hey man. I sold you the cam. Definitely look on the north side of Macon or a place called Bolingbroke. Also Forsyth isn't terrible which about 20 mins north of Macon. Then you've got places you can commute from like lizella or jones county (little bit redneck) or Houston county which is to the south and is officially South Georgia, lots of agriculture.
I live about 40 minutes above Macon but I used to date some skank from there many moons ago, still go there for restaurants and the bass pro from time to time.

I wouldn't look in macon for sure. I live in Forsyth Ga wI think is monroe county. It's on a few minstrel from macon. I have lived here for 16 yrs and it's a wonderful place to live and the schools are good.

Re: Georgia people???
My best advice would be to move as far south as you can from Macon. That gets you below the Macon Dixon line.

Re: Georgia people???
Haha, thanks for all the advice. We are both originally from Florida so getting back to the southeast is great at this point, Middle-Georgia or not! Once we move, I may actually stop getting the question "You're not from around here are you?" due to my accent...
Flint, I did remember about the cam and that you lived in GA. Was hoping you'd chime in... I didn't realize you lived as close as you did to Macon though.
My wife is a veterinarian so we were trying to stay closer to the bigger city of Macon for her to find a job easier. I haven't driven through that area in years but it looks like North Macon towards Forsyth is newer than to the South. Perry sounds good being that it's a lot of Ag because that's the field I work in. But wife thinks that it's too far from Macon at this point...

I was born and raised and currently live on the south side of Bibb co now but I am building a house in Monroe co if that tells you anything. Where will you be working and do you have kids? I ask because you will either have to move to a different county or pay for private school. If you want to PM me you're phone number I will tell you everything you need to know about this place.

I believe next year Houston country will over take Bibb in population so Perry is lnt that far from Warner Robins, highway 96 has blown up in the past 5 years

Re: Georgia people???
No kids yet. So don't have to worry about the schools anytime soon. I won't be working in any particular city as my office will be at home and I will travel throughout the week. We just signed on a rental house today in Bonaire so we will be just northeast of Perry until we buy a house. Hopefully it'll turn out ok. Houses we're going so quick we felt like we needed to pull the trigger fast. Hopefully that wasn't the wrong decision! At least it's only temporary either way...
