YETI COOLERS- Not all they are cracked up to be (NEED HELP)
Whats going on fellow fishermen/boaters.
Im writing this in hopes of getting the word out about the ridiculous customer service from this company and HOPE I can get some help to make a stand against this company.
In May of 2008 we ordered a 270 qt Yeti directly from the company (with credit card statement to prove it). It is a roughneck series and the price on it was $824.00. The companies slogan at the time, and you can still find this on their page, is "The last cooler you will ever buy". This is a cooler that has been stored in the garage, where everyone stores coolers, and has been on a boat less than a dozen times in the 4 years we have owned it.
About 2 years ago we started to see a little warping around the top of the actual cooler (not the lid). At first it was not bad but has only progressed to the point we noticed it isn't even making a proper seal anymore, essentially burning ice faster and making it no better than any other cooler. At this point we contacted the company and their response was less than acceptable.
They claim the roughneck series coolers only had a 3 year warranty, but if you look on their website under warranty information it says "ALL PRODUCTS manufactured by Yeti come with a 5 year warranty against defects in material and workmanship." When we originally called they also said this was an issue they have seen with the roughneck series and have since redesigned the coolers and the new lineup doesn't have this problem. The rep that we originally spoke to actually suggested putting a ratchet strap on the cooler to attempt to fix it. Ummmm.....seriously???? We have an 800$ cooler and their best suggestion was to keep a ratchet strap on it.
Yeti originally said that our cooler was out of warranty and the most they would do is give us a 250$ credit towards the purchase of a new cooler but only if we mail them the lid of our current cooler. WHAT?!?!? 250$?????? they think giving us 250$ for a 800+$ cooler that is only 4 years old and is virtually unused is fair? And on top of that we have to pay for shipping a lid back to them so our current cooler is unusable (and would cost us 75-100$ to ship the 5 ft lid). #1- buIIshit deal......enough said
#2- Who wants another cooler from yeti when they don't last OR back their product?
We gave them ample opportunities to make this right and when they didn't we started letting everyone know what they did. Anytime we posted on facebook them deleted us. So much so that they banned our family from commenting. We did not lie at all or try to slander the company, we simple shared our story with current and potential customers.
They offered us another deal.....the original 250$ but now we had to ship the entire cooler to them BUT they would pay for shipping. STILL buIIshit. We have told them 100 times we will accept nothing less than a new cooler, for more than one reason. Reason 1 is its an $800 cooler and we expected more, reason 2 they have had issues with this before telling us this is a manufacturing defect, and reason 3 because their website says its still under warranty and they claim these coolers will last forever but it ended up lasting about as long as an igloo cooler from wally world.
I will keep everyone posted on how this goes. I don't expect much from this company anymore and those who has stuck up for us on their facebook page has been banned so they clearly don't want the word getting out......so we are getting the word out through these forums. Please feel free to email, mail, call, send FB messages, etc, etc, etc. to yeti saying we as sportsman will not accept this. If you mention the Odom family (us) they will know what warranty claim it is in reference to.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help a fellow sportsman out, we don't know what else to do and talking to a lawyer about warranty problems for a cooler seem crazy and expensive.
THANKS IN ADVANCE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: YETI COOLERS- Not all they are cracked up to be (NEED HE
I don't know how else to say this other than being blatant and blunt.
If you paid $800.00+ dollars for a cooler of any brand/type/size you should seriously consider having your fucking brain examined.
Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do other than commit yourself to online slander and defaming the character of YETI, as hiring an attorney will only result in the price of this already retardedly high priced cooler skyrocketing upwards into the thousands.
Unless of course you were to hire dguidry.
He's a lawyer that often litigates on the side of negroes.
So he's used to working for nothing.

Re: YETI COOLERS- Not all they are cracked up to be (NEED HE
Why the hell would you buy a $800 cooler. Why would you buy an $800 cooler you have used less than a dozen times? Those things are tough as nails, and although I think way overpriced, I see the fit for someone who uses them everyday of their life doing something like construction, craw fisherman, lumberjack, offshore boat captain, etc. good luck getting it fixed...they aren't going to help you unless you lawyer up. And even then...your prob fucked

Re: YETI COOLERS- Not all they are cracked up to be (NEED HE
I can see paying that if your a big offshore fisherman and are going to be transporting fish a good ways or you do alot of deer hunting in far areas and need some where to put the meat for a long trip....i ain't gonna lie if i did all that i would purchase one.
But thats not the point, point is the man bought 800 dollars of a company's product and they aren't standing behind it even when their website says its still under warranty. Here we go with CS, just another wrong move by a company. But then again they probably aren't worried about it as they are a multi million dollar company. Hope all goes well for ya

Guys. Did you see the size he had. This is probably a fish box for an offshore fishing boat. Any box that size will cost that or more for a good one.
Dude if thats what it is for I would get me a custom made fiberglass fish box and forget about it. Will probably be the same price but in Yeti's words it will be your last cooler.

Re: YETI COOLERS- Not all they are cracked up to be (NEED HE
i have a yeti cooler, no problems with it, but would not be in a good mood either if i had an issue and they would not take care of it. When you buy top of the line product you expect top of the line service after the sale. Same goes for a 10.00 pair of sunglasses vs a 180.00 pair of costa or oakleys.
pretty sure anyone that is bashing you about what you paid for it has never owned one, nor ever will in that case.

The point isnt what he paid for it. I have an Engel cooler, and I now know for a fact that I wont ever buy a Yeti.

Haven't been impressed with k2 from looking at them the latches look cheap and the molding doesn't appear consistent a lot of rough edges.

Don't feel bad, I bought a 20qt yeti and took it out the box, filled it up and the thing leaked water from the tight drain plug. The molding where the plug seals was messy and had a lip sticking out. I cleaned it up with a razor blade and now works good

Re: YETI COOLERS- Not all they are cracked up to be (NEED HE
i suspect yetis will come down shortly. seems every day i see a high end cooler comming out. pelican, engel, even igloo has a high end cooler. all are at a lower price. the igloo looks real good for the price. ive seen some off brand that have lots of ss parts at much lower prices. yeti has lots of $ in advertising but there are others out there.
i hate to hear about yeti having issues, due to the ppl that endorse them, mostly flip and jose (rip) they are some of my heros

Heck I;m purty happy with my $40 70qt Coleman Xtreme from Academy. Had one that was about 6 years old that was white and grey and the hinges broke when we were hunting on South Texas last year. Needless to say I forgot to throw a bungee across for the ride home. LOL. Stopped at Academy somewhere around Lafayette and bought a brown one. Tickled pink. My FIL bought a Yeti and mine keeps ice as long as his.

$800.00 for a cooler is alot of money...lol.....but the guy thought he was buying something that was gonna last a long time. YETI promotes itself as the greatest cooler in the world and for those prices it should be. Wonder how long it'll be before the chinks start making coolers like that for 1/3 of the price.

Ha ha hell I am one myself. But, I was talkin about the pretty boy, expensive gun havin but hunts once a year, frat cleat and wayfarer wearin, polo shirt tucked in with shorts sort of feller.
The company should make good on that warranty but there's always two sides.
