Re: 2013 SETX Mud Run - Testing the Waters...
We were trying to figure out how to haul three boats today! We're game 10 hour trip, no BS from us just want to see what it's all about and ride. We don't have the mud y'all have so it'll all be new to us.

Re: 2013 SETX Mud Run - Testing the Waters...
I'd love to come ride!
Coe, I know that organizing and planning events is kind of your thing and you do it quite often, but just set up a time to meet at the ramp. People will show up and ride, then we can find somewhere to B.S. afterwards. I understand you are trying to make it "more fun" with live music, raffles, and all that, but there is nothing wrong with a couple of us guys sitting around a fire strumming guitars while everybody drinks and carries on.

Re: 2013 SETX Mud Run - Testing the Waters...
Working on a central location to hang out and listen to music and have some cold ones. Want everyone that comes to attend the after the ride hang out. I mean how boring would that be, go get muddy then go home, thats no fun, i mean there is only so much mingling you can do from a boat plus we don't go there to talk we got there to show off and so who's the baddest...lol So trying to put something together to house everyone that attends looks like the final figuring out part but its no biggy it'll get done. Everyone just plan on coming all the rest of the events will fall into place no matter what. Its a hell of a time and lots of people to meet, you won't be disappointed by no means

I'll pitch a tent in my boat if I got to, it would be good to walk on solid ground and shake y'all hand afterwards though. Lol

Re: 2013 SETX Mud Run - Testing the Waters...
Not planning on running it but as always i'll help with figuring things out, pretty much the ride will turn out to be just as much as we put in it. So i think we can all pitch in and get it taken care of, i mean wee build it up all year on here and encourage people to come out, we need to make it worth their while. If water is accessible by boat then we are riding end of story...lol We haven't had any problems in the past so i say lets do it again, no one trashes anything or deliberatly tears crap up so its been a success in the past i don't see why it wouldn't this year....we are good to go

This is just a suggestion, but one way of turning publicity into positive publicity is to do a can good food drive. Ask everyone coming to donate 20 can goods or something. Makes for nice mentions in papers and tv.

I dont get on here much anymore but I am willing to help where I can. Ancelet's would be a good spot, there is enough room for parking and it is kinda out of the way of the public eye.

I say we just go to the mud flat. The bow of Terry's boat is big enough to have a temporary pole installed an get some girls to a have a stripper competition. And we can add colored bulbs to the bowfishing lights. It will be like we in the club. Hahaha.

Re: 2013 SETX Mud Run - Testing the Waters...
I say you offer participants two mud ponds: Family or SETX style debauchery. And if you're gonna have a party afterwards, you have to decide if its gonna be family or a drunken rodeo, because you don't want one to turn into the other. What's that saying: go big or go home.

I'm pumped! Everything on the new rig will be done by then and the motor should be broken in. I think my boat has been before, but i never have. As far as bringing women go, the ones i hang with, as long as you get them drunk, they will have a good time doing anything

Last yr was my first time to the setx run and I will say me and the ole lady had a blast, will be back if I'm not stuck offshore. As far bigger I thought it WAs perfect. After the ride some went home and others stayed at different hotels I know at the hotel we stayed at we had a good time bullshiting and checking out camo's calls and cooking some good food. Hope to see all y'all again..

Re: 2013 SETX Mud Run - Testing the Waters...
Y'all are taking "BIG" and blowing this way out of proportion. There is no denying that MMT is increasing in size. There is no denying that each year a few more boats show up to each run or event. I think we can all agree to this.
With that being said I'm not looking to advertise to the general public just here on MMT. If the sponsors I listed want to participate then great! If they don't so be it. But I think it would be cool to have some prizes & giveaways is all I was getting at. If we can have sponsors pick up food costs for an evening or provide free shits to anyone who shows up. Would anyone really complain about free food, koozies & shits? Heck I was considering buying the beer for Friday or Saturday night.
Listen, structure is a good thing when it comes down to making an event flow well. If we have a schedule and that schedule is known ahead of time to all participants who are planning to show up then nobody is getting lost, everyone knows what is going on etc. I think we need a document we distribute beforehand online and at the event. This document (PDF) should contain the schedule, contact numbers in case of emergency, TPWD contact numbers, GW numbers, Tow Boat US #, maps, directions to the ramp or to a venue one night and local restaurants, hotels & the numbers to them.
I'm just trying to help make this event very easy on the people that are organizing it. All potential participants will have all the necessary information months prior to the run. That way those organizing will only have to worry about the evenings events and any fun activities like raffles, t-shirts, and promotional gear that perhaps a sponsor wants to donate to the event.
I doubt anyone would complain about a well organized event
