Re: Creeped out in the woods?
A couple years ago it was terribly cold and windy at the end of deer season. I had a huge cottonwood tree snap and go down as I was walking around it arms length away. It sounded like a rifle and shook the ground. I shook badly, got weak in the knees and felt like I was going to puke. The tree must have been 10 feet around.

Re: Creeped out in the woods?
I have a few. its more of me getting scared shit less than creeped out.
This year I hunted my climber in the same tree over a scrap line(never saw a fucking thing) well next to tree my climber was in was another much smaller sweetgum tree. it was close enough to where that where i would hang my bow and my pack. well one afternoon at about 5:15 when i am incredibly focused on the ground, a hand reaches out and touches me. Just like 3ck did, i freaked the fuck out. this is when i decide fight over flight and backhanded the ever living shit out of a young raccoon send him 25' down to the base of the tree
When i was in highschool i used to got to a buddies property and run trot lines across this little river. we would stay up all night drinking beer and then crash on the sandbar for the night. So about 6;15 one spring morning i feel hot breath on my face.I immediately open my eyes, see a big black blurr and, immediately close my eyes again. After laying there trying to figure out how i am gonna attack this bear that is about to attack me. the sun of a bitch licks me in the face!! this point i realize i am no longer a human and just bear food. i decide to take one more peak to find a route of escape. Now that i have been up my vision has cleared and i realized that a Angus calf just licked me in the face. i thought we were gonna have veal that eveing i came up so fast hitting that calf and chased him for about 40 yards

Re: Creeped out in the woods?
Not in the woods, in my house today. Emptied guns and ammo out of a safe and moving it out of the guest room to make it a baby room and my 4 year old sneaks up behind me and fires his capgun off behind my head. Safe contents were all locked in another room unloaded and he was playing downstairs, but for a split second I thought he managed to get a gun, load and fire one at me. A little spooky.

Re: Creeped out in the woods?
When I was a kid my mom had put me in the bed and when she left my room I ran into my sisters room and hid under the bed. She came in to tuck my sister in and I kinda tickled the bottom of my moms foot. She never said a word and finished saying her prayers with my little sis and left the room. I thought well that prank backfired… So I crawled out from under the bed heading back to my room and met my dad at the door and he had his pistol

Re: Creeped out in the woods?
Years back i was sitting in my tree stand climbed up a good 40 minutes before light. The tree I was in wasnt much of a tree 8 to 10 in diameter and 20 ft tall. As the sun is comming up I turn my head to look down the trail that enters the swamp meadow I'm sitting over its silent not even a bird chirping. All of a sudden all hell breaks loose death from above. Turkey let's out a kackle flies down wings brush my shoulder. Damn near had a heart attack n shat myself in the same second while tryin not to fall out of my stand. That turkey was sleeping on a branch not 5 ft above my head we never saw each other when I climbed up that morning but we Damn sure surprised each other at first light

Re: Creeped out in the woods?
When I was in high school I had a good friend that had a plantation. We would often take a group deer hunting on the weekends.this particular weekend there were three of us. As my buddy an I left town he reaches in the backseat and shows me this Indian costume he has and just says were gonna scare the shit out of Thomas. Now of course I forget he has it and we set out to our stands that mornin, just as I get settled I hear the most god awful scream. Well apparently my buddy had climbed into the shooting house in this costume and waited for the other guy to climb up into this shooting house and the second he opened the door he says how young warrior. Guy pissed his pants.

Re: Creeped out in the woods?
When I was 8 years old my brother and his buddy's took me hunting with them. It was great. We had a fire, cooked out and they even gave me a little Boons farm strawberry hill wine. We sat around the camp fire and they all told me scary stories about monsters and gators that ate little boys. Then they told me to go do the dishes down by the canal in the dark. I did, scared out of my mind while they made growling sounds and telling me to watch out for that big bull gator. Well I guess I didn't really rinse the dishes to well and the next morning we had breakfast before the morning hunt everyone got the shits real bad, nobody could stay in their stands and couldn't get to far away before they had to drop the pants and spay. The creepy part was I thought they were all going to kill me and leave me in those woods...Really, but I think there asses was to sore.

Re: Creeped out in the woods?
I bear hunt in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. One year I was hunting a stand about half a mile off the road that had a good bear coming into it. After dark one evening while heading for the road, I got a hundred or so yards from the stand and noticed "eyes" that were about a foot off the ground staring at me in the trail ahead. Thinking it was coons, I reached up to switch my headlight from green to white when all of a sudden I heard a loud "woof" followed by several loud pops. Right away the cubs that I thought were "coons" went up a tree and started bawling and the sow ran away from them down into a deep ravine off to my left and up the other side, stopping about 50-60 yards away from me and popping her teeth several more times. That was all the incentive I needed to get the hell outta there.
I turned away from the cubs and circled about 100 yards into the woods in the opposite direction of the deep ravine where the sow went, heading for the road as quickly as possible without running. When I got within 200 yards of where I thought the road was, I stopped to catch my breath, turned off my headlamp and tried to be as quiet as I could to listen, wanting to make sure momma had taken her cubs in the opposite direction.
But all of a sudden I heard something BIG running in my direction from the road! I thought Oh shit, how in hell did that sow get ahead of me? I could feel my butthole puckering as I knocked an arrow and turned my headlight back on, thinking there was no way in Hell I'm gonna get off a shot off with my recurve, in the dark, at a big black blob running at me, bent on killing me. Much to my surprise (and delight) it was a small group of deer. Something up near the road must have spooked them and with the wind in my favor and my headlight turned off, they never knew I was there until they were almost on top of me. It took several beers that night just to calm my nerves. LOL...

Re: Creeped out in the woods?
This ones an old one! I remember one time I was probably 13 I was deer hunting at my lease up in Arkansas and I heard a woman scream bloody murder. I remembered my dad telling me there was a panther in the area and that they sound like a woman screaming. Made every hair on my 13 year old body stand up. I heard it once at a good distance behind me and about 3 minutes later it sounded like it was 30 yards behind me. I'm up in a box stand and after that I heard a few smaller bushy trees behind me break and it was an evening hunt and almost dark so I just decided I was sleeping in the box stand cause I was not getting out. Well after a few minutes of me being terrified a pack of coyotes walk out right beside my four wheeler about 20 feet from the stand. They started howling and I heard that panther growl right behind the stand and those coyotes got out of there. As soon as they took off I figured nows my chance. I knew the four wheeler was efi so it would crank as soon as I touched the button. Well I kept my gun loaded and ran down the ladder and about the time I got to the first step the panther growled again. I jumped from half way down the ladder and shit myself so hard that it damn near propelled me all the way to my four wheeler. I haven't ever drove so fast in my life after I got it cranked! Never even unloaded my gun, I'm just glad it didn't go off from hitting a bum if bump at 50 mph. Took me two years before I went back to that same stand.

Re: Creeped out in the woods?
I'll have to reach back in my memory and try to think of some of the times I got scared in the dark. I was walking out to my deer stand when I was about 17 or so. Not far off the road. It was just a creek with trees on each side that were about 100 yards thick. On my way to my stand I here something crashing in the tall grass before you walk into the trees. I walk in thinking it's just some birds or something and two step from my ladder I here something crashing through the woods and I think, oh fuck it's bigfoot. 1.5 seconds later a good sized doe knocks me on my ass as she runs past me. It scared the dog shit out of me to the point I couldn't scream or make a noise. Never saw another deer the whole morning hahaha
It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

Re: Creeped out in the woods?
Fishing this weekend cause the duck hunting went to crap. Had just pitched in a fresh minner in my favorite crappie hole. Felt the boat move a little like something was under it. Saw a disturbance in the water next to the boat and leaned over to try and make it out. All of a damn sudden and with an explosion of water spray and upheaval, a damn game warden burst up through the water, spit and screamed "Need to see yor fishin license".
