I am startin to built my longtail and phoned go-devil to see if I could buy one of their props. Not sure if it is a business or liability issue, but I asked if I could purchase a prop over the phone. The lady said sure and took all my shipping information then asked what go-devil I owned probably to look up what size of prop I needed... So being as honest as I am I said "well I don't, but I'd like a 9x3 prop"... and she replied with, if you dont own a go-devil I cant sell you a prop. So I spent $200 elsewhere... It was like "If you dont drop two grand on our machine, we wont sell you a prop." I'm not trying to bash go-devil, but was wondering if this is something standard throughout the industry or what? |

Not sure about about the others, but I know that Go Devil ain't selling you parts unless you are the registered owner of a motor. Pretty sure it's done that way to prevent someone from using GD parts to build their own version of the motor. |

They have a pretty extensive database of GoDevil owners name/address, and the serial numbers of the motors. I was told this was company policy to not sell to parts to someone without having the proper information, due to theft. |

Ya, you need to have a Go Devil and have it filed with the GD Company to buy GD parts. When I asked Warren about the policy he told me it was so they could keep track of their motors and recover stolen ones. He said they got one back last year that the owner had reported stolen 10 years ago. Guess it works. I am sure another reason is guys doing home builds and high grading parts. They put alot of research and development into their products so I am guessing they need to recover that cost somewhere down the line. Duckdon |
