Noticed some pitting on the bottom of the hull nothing major but it's only where the boat sits on the carpet for the trailer boards.

Will putting the plastic caps, like you see below prevent and slow down any future pitting etc. Any other design or product I should look at?

Coe, I'm using the bunk slicks made by tie down engineering. Had them on my old rig and now on my new one. No problems with pitting on either hull.

Thanks. I'll get some slides to screw them into the bunk boards. I was looking at a few just haven't decided which direction I want to go.

You could always take the carpet off and put frog spit, steel flex, or gator glide on it. That's what I plan on doing.

Take the carpet off the bunks the salt water will tear up a aluminum boat......if you think it tears up aluminum you should see what it does to fiberglass!!

Pick you up some plastic bunk board pieces. They help a ton when you have to deal with ice. I have them on my 1752 and I love them. I also bolted my bunk directly to the trailer frame. It lowered the boad 5+ inches so i dont even have to put my axle hubs in the water now.

I have those on mine WEA and love em. No more pitting since I put them on. Took about 30 mine to install. Easier on and off the trailer too.

When yall use the plastic deck boards do yall coat them with anything or just bolt them on and do aluminum to plastic?

Maybe a sacrificial anode would help more then any thing.

I removed my carpet and installed plastic bunk covers made by Magic-Tilt because of corrosion. They were the most affordable ones I could find and you can cut them to length. You'll need to purchase little end caps for the bunks in addition to the covers but they are very inexpensive. I also installed battery switches on both of my batteries just to be sure there is no electrical current running through my hull that could cause electrolysis.

They have helped tremendously with corrosion but didn't stop it 100%. I think saltwater is just hard on unpainted aluminum but at least I'm not worried about pinholes leaks forming in the bottom of my boat anymore.
